First of all a definition of Pride and Ninja:

"1.
a high or inordinate opinion of one's own dignity, importance, merit, or superiority, whether as cherished in the mind or as displayed in bearing, conduct, etc.
2.
the state or feeling of being proud.
3.
a becoming or dignified sense of what is due to oneself or one's position or character; self-respect; self-esteem.
4.
pleasure or satisfaction taken in something done by or belonging to oneself or believed to reflect credit upon oneself: civic pride.
5.
something that causes a person or persons to be proud: His art collection was the pride of the family."

Ninja:

"ninja - a member of the ninja who were trained in martial arts and hired for espionage or sabotage or assassinations; a person skilled in ninjutsu

or

2. ninja - a class of 14th century Japanese who were trained in martial arts and were hired for espionage and assassinations"

In Japan culture, honor was one of the highest attributes. Samurai commited Harakiri,in order to save their honor. But on the opposit, Ninjas kill from the back, with traps, lie and overall don't fall the Bushido (Quote "This character can also be defined as righteousness, justice, morality, honor, or "right conduct". In more a more expanded definition, it can mean loyalty to friends, loyalty to the public good, or patriotism. This idea of loyalty and friendship comes from the fact that you will treat those you are loyal to with morality and justice.").

Thereby, Ninjas were almost always hired assassins. And in the Naruto universe, this role is completly downvoted. Besides being the majority of fighters, in comparison to the Samurai, they fight for their Villages, to protect ppl. and even fight in open wars. In my opinion, u can't call Naruto a show about Ninjas. This was bothering me since the very beginning of Naruto. I still like Naruto, but I think kishimoto ****ed this up.
Pride has nothing to do with a Ninjas life and especially Naruto, the "strongest Shinobi" to eb is so prideful it hurts.
