Perform the technique:

Channelling my chakra into the ground in front of me, I then slam my palms onto the ground and use that chakra to force up a reasonably thick slab of earth that stands straight and tall, at a 90º. An explosion rocks the wall as one of the several Fire Dragons slams into the wall. The others soar past me unblocked, but the ones that would have hit me, I have taken care of.

Advantages:

It's a nice and quick defense, requiring no seals to perform. Because it's so fast, it gives the technique more utility. It can be used as a wall for defense from multiple attacks even, and can even be used to trip up the enemy if they attempt to close in on you. Because the technique isn't extremely tall or wide, it doesn't have as much of a negative effect on the user's vision. The user will still be able to see incoming attacks of reasonable scale (B-A Rank Fire techniques, for example). If one is being attacked from all sides other than their front then it won't be difficult for the user to break the wall and escape through that.

Disadvantages:

What this technique has in versatility and speed of use, it lacks strength and actual stopping power. It serves as a quick defense for attacks close and far, but it cannot do much against elements of the same rank, even the weakest and most basic lightning technique are capable of penetrating that defense. Overall, this technique only serves as a way to buy some time. It isn't an impenetrable wall like higher ranked Doton techniques, it is a quick defense with great utility that should only be used to get some breathing room.

Techniques that counter this one:

(Doton: Ganban Kyu) - Earth Release: Bedrock Coffin
Rank: C
Type: Offense
Range: Mid/Long
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points: 30
Description: After performing the Rat hand seal, the user to control multiple sections of rock and move them around their opponent. The user then forms two gigantic sections that crush the opponent.

It was either this technique or the Stone Spikes, but I decided on this one in the end. Using this to attack the opponent while they're behind the wall will put lots of pressure on the opponent, as it will cover possible routes of escape in addition to the earth wall they created and due to the scale of the technique, it will be difficult for the opponent to escape it.

Speed of use:

Fast
I purposely released a technique that would overpower your defense to see if you are paying attention and would take note of it, however be careful with how you words things as you god-modded a bit when you raised the wall for defense. I stated that I released the fire at you but you word it so that some of the fire misses you and thus your defense was valid. Just be careful with this and ill slip other things like this into your training at various points to make sure your paying attention. Also that was a good counter, now next jutsu.

(Doton: Doro Hōshi) - Earth Release: Mud Spore]
Rank: C
Type: Offensive
Range: Short-Long
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points: 30
Description: This technique lets the user summon a river of mud infront of them by lifting one of their hands in the air. This technique can have water added to it to speed up the flow and increase its power.

Channel your chakra into the earth in front of you and build up a small amount there. Then focus your chakra and change the earth into mud. You will then wave your hand and cause this mud to form into a river that will flow quickly and carry my clone away, knocking him off balance.

This is a good technique that is quick to activate and affects a good range. You can use this technique to push your opponent around the battlefield into danger.
