Boruto doesn't do it for me, honestly. Had high hopes for it at the start, but with how it's been downhill since Momoshiki, the hype died down, and I just no longer reserve any excitement for future prospects. Unless Kawaki pulls a Sasuke and has everyone tailing him and we get the Misadventures of Kawaki going AWOL like we did with Sasuke :yeah: Which happenstance is all I'm hoping for currently. Otherwise I'm ready to throw in the towel and start searching for more entertainment sources. There's Comics which have complex worlds and PLOTS with heavier thought-provoking and intellectually stimulating elements all-round. One has to ignore that they're adulting and don't need whimsical plots to want to continue watching Boruto to the bitter end :dunno:

As for the Boruto adulation, you don't seem a part of, that I can agree to, it would be uncharacteristic since you are popular for being against such endeavors

Sorry for the long post.
From what've noticed it seems social networks really took over this. You have discussion groups that are private and public. I have seen groups in facebook with 100k members and more than 25k (average) messages in one day. Look at twitter, you make a post and you have 6k comments (if you are famous).
If you visit certain manga/anime websites you will notice that the comments are probably profiles logged in with facebook, the comments sections are quite ephemeral because they are related to a specific section/chapter that is prone to change next week. Discord and telegram are also a thing.
Youtube, Facebook, Instagram and even newspapers with digital version have comments section, the discussion is on the go, at that moment, for a specific subject and then, unlike forums, it is gone.
The forum model that proliferates in the web is outdated, this is more correct, the evolution of the model "forum" needs to include personal feeds, hashtags, community identifiers and be tied to twitter and facebook (Narutobase for example could win so much from this).
Kids nowadays also have a different operating system installed.
