This is a mini series to boost up Boruto the movie's views. One of the only ways Kishi could make the mini series mysterious and intense is by having the mother drama. The reason why this was such a genius idea is because he could "solve" or answer all the mother questions in 2 pages if he wanted to at the end.


Karin is not the mother, it would complicate things too much and would make things difficult for the mangaka who hates headaches.

Think about it, if Karin was the mother he would have to explain the backstory, the reason and Sarada would have to meet her and she would have to choose between Sakura and Karin. It would just be hard to pull off in one chapter without rushing.


So just think for a second what are the advantages of Karin being the mum for the series? None, the whole mother thing was so the fans stayed to read each chapter.
What are the advantages of Sakura being the mother? It would be easy to wrap up and explain, it would not give a bad name to Sasuke and it would be easier for Sarada's character.

It was obvious Sakura was the mother even after the DNA test, I still knew Kishi was trolling. Didn't he openly state Salad is the daughter of both Sasuke and Sakura, not to mention it says so in the data book. The Karin thing was nothing but a mystery detour to keep readers clinched as you said.
