-Sage was an Uzumaki (basically canon at this point) and his Wife was a Hyuuga
-Sage’s wife gave him her Byakuugan to help in fighting the Juubi/attaining peace
-Sage used Sage mode in his fight with the Juubi
-Sage gained the Rinnegan AFTER sealing the Juubi
-Naruto and Hinata will exchange eyes, resulting in:
-Naruto getting the Rinnegan
-Actual formula for the Rinnegan: Uzumaki+Hyuuga+Juubi
-(Sage+Juubi)/2=Elder Son (Uchiha ancestor) and Younger Son (Senju ancestor)
-The Senju clan is a result of the Juubi’s influence on the dominant Uzumaki Gene (Younger Son-see above)

Keep in mind that all percentages are massively rough estimates
-100% Uzumaki refers to the strong body/chakra gene
-100% Hyuuga refers to the special eye gene basically
-100% Juubi + 100% Uzumaki + 100% Hyuuga = Sharinnegan (9 Tomoe Sharingan)

The Sage was unable to reach 100% Juubi as 25% was used to form the Bijuu and the other 25% was split between his sons. (Again a very rough estimation of numbers)

From the above, we can deduce the minimum requirements to achieve a Rinnegan
- At least 12.5% Juubi Chakra
-Either 100% Uzumaki and 75% Hyuuga or
-75% Uzumaki and 100% Hyuuga
Now, consider Naruto in terms of the Rinnegan (not considering Sasuke as its black and white the route he would need to achieve a Rinnegan, either way I doubt it will happen but thats just my opinion)

-Hinata (or much less likely Neji-He be dead so its not like he can refuse)
-Sasuke
However, each of these options would cause differing results

Its a sealed version of the Juubi's eye, and as the Juubi's influence faded from the world, so did the seal, thus resulting in the modern day Sharingan.
After making this massive set of assumptions, it leads me to think that if Naruto were to get Sasuke's eyes (EMS), he wouldn't awaken a Rinnegan like Nagato did after receiving Madara's EMS, he would awaken the Elder Son's eyes.
This is because Naruto is a jinchuuriki and thus houses a large amount of Juubi chakra (ie Bijuu chakra) as well as a Rikudou like seal (the one he uses to re-seal Kurama after the chakra tug-of-war, you know what I mean).
The converse of this true and evident in Nagato, who had no seal placed on him nor did he bear any Juubi chakra and thus he was able to awaken the Rinnegan
