Ninja are smart, I think he doesn't use it because it's possible someone could still record phone calls or see the texts have them sent directly to the Akatsuki phone, or computer, not good to have the enemy Hear the conversation

It's possible with cell phones just like with landlines back in the day and they can save the tapes, they got from then... with landlines
