I know this post is random to speak about but its something i want to do. I just want to say thank you to all the miltary personel for their sacrifices. It absolutely infuriates me to see what our world has become. We worship false celebrities and musicians so much as "idols" and "heroes" while yet they are mainly drug addicts. Yet, we still have young men signing up for the military everyday for us, when were just garbage. I want people to know the life of a soldier and i want them to see in their eyes if just for moments what life
is like for them.

As a soldier you go through rigorous training and exercise day in and day out with your fellow soldiers building bonds with them that will last a lifetime. And they all know that they and there friends may never comeback. And they know they risk before they join and accept that. Then their shipped over seas in other countries where they are spit on and shunned by others calling them murders, and the whole time they are watching every single angle of their vision worrying they might be under attack. On top of that they think about their families, their mom, dad, wife and children constantly and how much they want to see them and keep fighting to protect their family and our freedoms.

They dont see anyone of their relatives for months to years at a time. And when they comeback home they dont get praised for what they have done. They do, but only on arrival. Then everyone forgets them and moves on. Yet they wont forget michael jackson, whitney houston, lil wayne, nikki minag etc. They keep the most unimportant people in their memories and forget our heroes. The real heroes and every soldier will agree, are the ones who dont come back. My wish is that people start to learn and realize our service men and veterans deserve more credit and praise for the bravery the committed to that they could not do themselves, self sacrifice for your country. So the next time you see a soldier or a veteran tell him "thank you for your courage and bravery of you and your friends i will never forget it." And remeber the name of the soldier for he put his life on the line for you. And always remember the fallen. For many of them never reached the age of 20 and died for us. I dont want those heroes to ever be forgotten.

I'm guessing the honour they get from doing it is as much as they need - they don't need/want high salary, they don't want to be remembered for ever, but perhaps they just want a little respect?

They dont want to be forgotten. The point is no one puts as much effort for these men as they do celebrities. Soldiers dont need anything, but they should never be forgotten. People today cant name 10 soldiers who gave their lives in the back of their mind but they can about musicians and actors

That's because musicians and actors are on the forefront of the media, soldiers aren't.
Whilst they want to be remembered, they will be, by family and friends and everyone who dies for their country will be remembered but most likely not individually.

And its the sad sad truth, could you imagine if you lived your life knowing that? I only want to put in perspective how a soldier lives. Soldiers should never be forgotten. Its not all the medias fault, its our own. Everyone can make their own decisions on what they chose to watch. We are the problem who feeds the medias attention

I think that's maybe an oversimplification of things, though most so called "celebrities" do not deserve their fame and fortune. I would also propose that scientists and inventors be considered heroes and role models. We need to encourage and praise those individuals who use their education to pioneer new technology and modes of understanding through their devotion to scientific principle.

I know where you're coming from, but sadly there's nothing that can be done. I finally came to realize that people are fickle and have the attention span of a cat. Sure it might spend some time chasing a lazer pointer dot on the ground, but after a while they just move on. So if you aren't constantly in their face, kinda' like a troll, waving your arms like a crazy person while putting on a big show, then people drop you.

Sure, The Beatles have lived on and people still like them...but I wonder how long it would really last if Paul wasn't still out there doing stuff. I mean, nobody thinks about the BGs really, or what about the Beach Boys? Not that I care much, not a big oldies fan, but that's part of the reason why...they're dead; the recording quality is terrible and they aren't shakin' their junk around anymore.

Believe it or not, there will even be a day when Justin Bieber is forgotten...I know, I'm totally shocked that I even thought that day would come. :D

So what chance does a soldier have? Maybe if one did some super awesome thing like, say, I don't know, take out Bin Laden...maybe then they'd have the spotlight...but people don't even talk about that much anymore... U_U

I agree with you and the other guys point, it is our choice of what we choose to remember but if we are influenced day to day by our surroundings, we will get lost. It's hard to acknowledge what everyone does but at least some people can accept the hard work people do in any profession. This may sound weird but there is a huge gap between what we don't know and what we don't know we don't know; so there will be people out there who ignorant and it's our responsibility to raise awareness just like you did now.
