The Real Dragon Sage!

I know, in the manga he calls himself a Dragon sage; but seriously I don't think Kabuto is the dragon sage. He's a snake sage like his snake mentor Oroshimaru, also dragons have nothing to do with snakes!

Dragons in Japanese myth are apparently just mighty snakes, or something of the like. A "dragon" is a perfected snake. Kabuto is a dragon, as is Orochimaru's Yamata No Orochi jutsu. It was classified as a dragon-type summon/transformation.

The term "dragon" as Kabuto used wasn't necessarily as literal as prompted. "Dragon" in this case hints at the evolution Kabuto underwent (from snake to dragon), putting him above Orochimaru.
