This is something that has a lot of people torn. Did Boruto really cheat? I mean, from a different point of view Boruto's disposition to use the scientific tools isn't cheating since it has been a kind of motto for ninjas to use whatever means to win. Why is Boruto's case different? Am well aware using scientific ninja tool was barred from the exams, but doesn't it contradict the whole ninja way of battling?
Another argument that arises is that scientific ninja tool is based on an external source of power. I don't think this should be the main point of concern. I think what should be considerate is the way it is used, which requires more skills than alleged. Simply put, the practical use of scientific ninja tools in battles needs to be on a competent level before it can be used successfully. Not every one would had been able to use the tools the way Boruto did, especially normal humans, so Boruto needs to be credited in that aspect.
Furthermore, Naruto should have ignored Boruto owing to the fact Boruto was able to use it without revealing too much. Part of a ninja training is to be able conceal yourself, and that extends to weaponry which Boruto essentially did.
