I'm not going to lie I didn't like Sasuke much in the very beginning of the series because he acted like an arrogant know it all, all because bitches were all over him. I started liking him immediately after he became a man a stood up to Orochimaru in the forest of death. I like Sasuke because he unlike other characters in the Narutoverse is very complex and I can relate to him because I would honestly feel the same way he felt if I had gone through what he did I might even be crazier. I'm surprised Sasuke kept his sanity for so long. If you had been mind raped by your brother who decided to kill your family both nuclear and extended when you where eight years old why wouldn't you be mad. The arrogance thing is the way he was brought up every single uchiha and even people in the other clans are very proud e.g. Neji I think Sasuke's pride isn't only a way to show off that he has cool looking eyes rather a way for him to cope with the death of his loved ones, funny enough that pride that he has for his clan is the only way for him to connect to them now that they are deceased(besides his symbol).

Sasuke's actually has feelings for his team mates and that is even shown in shippuden believe it or not. Sasuke actually begins to care for his teammates and begins to soften up but then the opportunity of becoming more powerful just presented itself and he took it. There are really good examples of what made Sasuke jealous of Naruto and such as him defeating Gaara but few people realize that Itachi is the person that actually caused Sasuke to go after Orochimaru in the first place. When Itachi came back he came after Naruto. Basically Itachi had said "yeah I came back to the village but not for you sasuke you ain't worth shit just forget about your revenge but I will take your friend because he has more potential than you" without actually saying it, to make matters worse he made Sasuke relive the uchiha massacre all over again. Personally I feel like Sasuke is a victim of circumstance and that Itachi is the creator of those circumstances. Sasuke left the village to avenge his clans murder(his ultimate goal) and put Itachi behind him.

I remember when Karin and the rest of Taka were sacrificing themselves for him in the anime(don't know if its in the manga) He suddenly thought of his old team. Really to say that Sasuke is a bad guy plain and simple is just stupid to say that he isn't likeable is equally stupid. Sasuke and Naruto are more or less just like each other. They are both looking for happiness but Sasuke started off on the wrong foot. I empathize with Sasuke more than any other character in the series. He has all the problems of Nagato and Naruto and Kakashi all rolled into one. All Sasuke wants to do is put his past behind him and the only way he can do that is to completely sever all his ties to his past life. Sasuke gains people who love him then loses them and Naruto gains people who love him. He is tired of the constant loss and wants to end it and start anew.

Influence also has a lot to do with why he is like this. His first mentor and his brother Itachi just straight killed his whole family and told sasuke his a walking pile of shit. Orochimaru is like the polar opposite of J-man. Tobi is just playing mind games with him to further his goal. The only positive influence he got was from Kakashi. Naruto on the other hand had his dad and his mom and J-man and Iruka and the toads all reinforcing the idea that friends are real power. everyone "helping" sasuke is just like getting power any means is fine with them. As the series started and went on Naruto and Sasuke switched places in the like-meter by Konoha.

All in all Sasuke is very likeable because not only is he just a cool character he is a very deep one at that. Its like in Death Note. Light vs L people actually liked Light whereas people liked L.

Well if you insult someone, that usually gets them mad LOL
I like Sasuke because he's a complicated character. And personally, I can't remember him whining the whole time. If someone is able to whine a lot, then it's Sakura, but that's a whole different story.
Anyway, with Sasuke you can go both ways: either he repents or he doesn't and that makes it so interesting. He fights for what he believes in and personally I would have done some of the things he did too if I had a history like him. Like I mentioned in other threads, people seem eager to forget that his clan was murdered by his own brother (who he idolized and did everything to be like him) and that he had to fend for himself. I haven't read a scene yet where some people of the village offer their help to him when he was young. So not only did his brother murder his whole clan, but he also told him that the only way to defeat him, was to hate him enough. So Sasuke trains and yes, he turns his back on the village, all so that he could be strong enough to fight against Itachi.
After that fight, he gets to hear that the Council of Konoha have ordered Itachi to kill his own clan because they were afraid of the planned coup à tète of the Uchiha clan. The Uchiha clan is all about power and pride, so could you honestly expect Sasuke to forgive the people he saw as the ones forcing his brother to be a murderer? I'm not excusing him for everything that he does. There are moments where he goes too far, I admit that, but you have to count in his whole history before you make remarks as 'He's a whiney stupid bitch. He can't do anything without someone's help' etc etc.
Now I'm aware that there will always be people who don't like him - that's their own right. But that still doesn't give the right to bash him unnecessarily.
I don't like Sakura, but I don't make threads to bash her either.
So all in all, Sasuke is an interesting character with his history and the way he behaves now. At least in my opinion

I'm talking about people who when I do a little anti Sasuke trolling for some fun and they respond "OMGF YEW A DUMM ASS WHOLE TOUCHER YOU WANT SASUKE TO LICK YEWR BUTT AHT Y U CANT GET NOT STOP SASUKE CALL YHIM STUPID NAMES GTFO MY TROLL THREAD YOU HOLLEBUTT MEANY HEAD!!!!" or something equally stupid as that.
