So the villain's name was revealed and he is an Otsutsuki, but here's what I think his intent is.

-He wants to revive his mother, in order to do so, he needs a vessel from the Hyuga to do so. Thus he has Hanabi. I can't think of a reason he wouldn't use Hinata though, but possibly either because Hanabi shows the true potential of the Hyuga like Neji did. I kinda imagine Hanabi's potential, being the youngest in the clan, to be as potent as Sasuke's (at least that's why I theorize to be portrayed).

The way he plans to do so, is that he is going to make Hanabi eat the fruit from the tree and become Kaguya.

The fruit appears when all chakra has become one.

The fruit appears when all chakra has become one.
So, where did the first fruit come from?

Sage Mode gives us the answer to this.

The Holy Tree originally taught the Uzumaki how to call upon the natural energy around them. This is what lead to both the sealing arts (which function by having chakra flow through them) and to the original Sage Mode.

It is worth noting that the original Sage Mode would have likely been different from the current Sage Mode, since the concept of Ninjutsu did not exist and the ability to take chakra into one's self was unnecessary.

Without knowing the exact purpose of the villain - we can only speculate as to the reason for abducting Hanabi.

I speculate it was done through a suitor request, the man acting the part of a lord. Alternatively - it could just be that it was a standing agreement between the head family and the Ototsuki that every once in a while one of the head branch daughters would be taken away.

According to all we know about the Hyuuga traditions - she should have the Caged Bird Seal, by now. Or Hinata should. Since neither appear to have the seal - this could be an indicator that this was set up beforehand.

It is also possible that both sisters are actually necessary - but the most sure fire way to get them into one place is to kidnap Hanabi.

I speculated quite a while back that Hinata contains the sealed heart of Kaguya:

If this is truly the case - then I expect it plays a role.

Of course, I've been harping on the Hyuuga being key to 'the end' for a long, long while:
