"THE PRINCE" implemented in NARUTO.

For those who do not what 'The Prince' is. It is a book from the Renaissance period in Europe. The author is Niccolò Machiavelli.

The specific part I'm talking about is from " CHAPTER XVII : Concerning Cruelty And Clemency, And Whether It Is Better To Be Loved Than Feared"

Upon this a question arises: whether it be better to be loved than feared or feared than loved? It may be answered that one should wish to be both, but, because it is difficult to unite them in one person, is much safer to be feared than loved, when, of the two, either must be dispensed with. Because this is to be asserted in general of men, that they are ungrateful, fickle, false, cowardly, covetous, and as long as you succeed they are yours entirely; they will offer you their blood, property, life and children, as is said above, when the need is far distant; but when it approaches they turn against you. And that prince who, relying entirely on their promises, has neglected other precautions, is ruined; because friendships that are obtained by payments, and not by greatness or nobility of mind, may indeed be earned, but they are not secured, and in time of need cannot be relied upon; and men have less scruple in offending one who is beloved than one who is feared, for love is preserved by the link of obligation which, owing to the baseness of men, is broken at every opportunity for their advantage; but fear preserves you by a dread of punishment which never fails.

IMPLEMENTING IT IN NARUTO​

Now once I read this, a scan from NARUTO came into mind, the scan where Obito talks about this specific character who later is treated like a "ROYALTY" by the world.

The man who was respected and FEARED. Now arises the question what about the love? Was he loved?

Indeed the man who was Feared was also loved.

The country and everyone of his villagers wanted him to lead. Even the villagers that had once been his enemy. Not only that someone like the Tsuchikage , who is from another country, seems to love Hashirama. Why do I conclude this from this scan? Because he is very glad to see Hashirama , in such a way that he seems happy.

As shown Hashirama was a successful Leader of that time, more successful than any who followed after him. Most likely due to the element of " It may be answered that one should wish to be both (Loved and Feared)" by Niccolo.

OBJECTIVE​

The point here is that Kishimoto even if not intentional, has a point from this book from a long period. Also, I wanted to make this because I thought you guys would idk like it or w.e. Plus, I'm bored so I decided this would be fun.

Also, lets just look at Hiruzen.. the guy who was only loved, in the end people like Danzo and Orochimaru stepped all over him. Someone like Danzo who was feared, didn't have the loyalty of the people and their trust.

I agree to a extent. The leader has to be fear-able.. there is no reason to feat Obama right now. He doesn't have the "fear factor".

i agree with the others respected and fear. as growing up i was hated by many so i came to love it which turned me into a violent person and with others always getting to trouble and fights

And yes I agree with Niccolo a leader needs to be both loved and feared .... love endures even during hard times and fear (types such as the fear of Police or the Judge, Jury and Executioner etc) ensures that the people dont overstep their bounds.
