I don't mean to be pedantic, but the term "theory" is used differently in science than is general speech. The word theory as a conglomerate term to explain why X and Y happen. You might have heard the concept of "theory and practice". So you have theoretical science and practical science. For an example in school. Reading up on the biology of a frog would be considered theory, or a theoretical study. Then you have the examination of the frog's body and functions, this would be called a practical examination.

If I'm to adjust the terms to match your comments, then... Theory is the fiction, hypothesis would be the fanfiction.

Well these things have been observed. Much like gravitational theory is observed in practical application in everyday life. You drop an apple, you observe it... there it is.

There's a practical experiment where if 2 people set their timers, one gets on a train and the other remains on the platform. The timers will not be synced once the one on the train disembarks. By a few seconds or minutes depending on the speed and distance traveled. It has actually been observed to happen, which, while applying common sense, would say the faster you go, the more time and it's perception are distorted. This is also why you'll oft' here "space and time" used in the same sentence.
