If we are to take the Juubi's hypothetical name as Sojobo, and this image of Sojobo is shown in history and portrayed in the manga, what exactly does this mean for the Juubi? Will his final form be in the image of Sojobo? On the flipside, if this is his name, why isn't the statue of Sojobo in Naruto the image of the Juubi instead? Is there anything more to the Kotodama than just speaking out a Biju's name?

We know that the Rikudou Sennin after dividing the Juubi and creating the Bijuus give each of them a name:

And that Naruto learned these names:

Tobi/Obito doesn't know the Bijuus' True Names

So by extension, Madara most probably doesn't know them either:

I think there is a hidden power in the Bijuus' true names.

It is called Kotodama 言霊 or "Word Soul/ Word Spirit

It is an ancient Japanese belief that mystical powers reside in words or names.

One of the most prominent tale of the use of Kotodama concerns the Sun Goddess Amaterasu uttering Divine Word/ Kotodama and giving birth to deities:

In Naruto, a prominent example of the use of Kotodama is found in the Treasured Tools of Rikudou Sennin particularly the Benihisago:

"The Benihisago is able to take a person's word soul (言霊, kotodama) hostage by saying the verbal command "record" (録音しろ, rokuonshiro). After the word soul has been drawn out by the Kōkinjō and then severed from their body by the Shichiseiken, it is absorbed into the gourd. Completing these conditions "curses" the victim; if they utter the word they have said the most during their life, they will be sucked into and trapped within the Benihisago. Saying a homophone of their most frequently spoken word, or even saying nothing at all for a certain amount of time, will also trigger the gourd's suction."

In western religion and folklore the concept of Kotodama is called "True Names"

In Scandinavian Mythology, water spirits called Nix could be defeated by calling their names:

In Kabbalism, the invocation of the true name of God was said to give the speaker power over creation:

In Occultism, It is said that invoking the True Name of a Demon allows the speaker to summon and bind the demonic spirit.

I think the Juubi's Final Form has a consciousness/personality, and much like Kurama and the Bijuus, it probably has a True Name itself (though not conferred by Rikudou rather a True Name it calls itself) unlike its' numerous titles/aliases:

If the Juubi indeed has a true name, Kishimoto will most probably take inspiration from Japanese myths what to name it.

Two of the most probable names are:

1. Amatsu-Mikaboshi 天津甕星 The Primordial God of Darkness Evil in Japanese Mythology. Also known as the "August Star of Heaven"

2. Sōjōbō

It is said that the Ancient Ninjas of Japan takes their heritage from the Tengus, one such Tengu stood above all others, the God-King Tengu of Mount Kurama: Sojobo:

The image of Sojobo in the manga was first seen in the Fire Temple:

Sojobo was the King of the Tengus and resided in the forest of Mount Kurama, it is said that the legendary warrior Ushiwaka-maru was taught by Sojobo in the arts of swordsmanship, magic and mysticism.

I don't think Naruto, nor Kurama or the Bijuus know the true power of their names, it is more likely that Rikudou Sennin was the only one who knows how to use their Kotodama, so it's possible that the Bijuus' True Names will play a vital role in defeating the Juubi. It is most likely that Rikudou Sennin will teach Naruto the Kotodama when he appears inside Naruto's subconscious.

I respect you, but must you bring deities, buddhas, and figures into every theory you make? For one, Kishi could very well not be religious, and for two, what makes you think he is going to bring symbolism into his manga?

another good one! + rep my man.

OT but doesnt sasukes susanoo look like a tengu?
that would build another link between the sage being the ancestor of uchiha.

Yes, the Susanoo is a Tengu, in fact even before Sasuke left Konoha in Part 1, the word Tengu Uchi appeared in the middle portrait on the right side of his room, foreshadowing Susanoo:

Knowing the Kotodama is one thing, wielding/invoking it is another. :)

A majority of the elements in Naruto are directly inspired from Japanese myths and folklore.

Dammit you just broke my pet peeve. Why feel the need to quote the entire OP when we are responding TO the OP in the first place?

Anyway: using spiritual symbolism in theories work, because Kishimoto uses it in his manga long before anyone has tacked more unto it.

As usual, a high possibility for the outcome.

I'm picturing it now, Naruto randomly utters all the name of the Bijuu and something happens and he becomes uber powerful :p

I like the Tengu reference because it correlates with the Uchiha's hatred stemming from the Juubi. Susanoo's imagery are based off of Tengu mythological references, this is why all the Susanoo's statures all have different looks to them. It makes sense that the Juubi would take on such a form because it being the amalgamation of "hatred" would basically prove the notion that the Sharingan is equivalent to the Juubi's eye (Yin) and the Mokuton, which it has displayed prowess for (Yang) both surface from the Juubi therefore also proving that the Son's powers and their descendants are more directly related to the Juubi itself, rather than Rikudou.

I've been waiting to see the significance of learning the names since it happened. Something major with Naruto and the Bijuus is definitely in the works.

Something I really like about your threads is that you pull resources from different sources to strengthen your point, which is always relevant to the storyline, rather than rubbish like "_____ solos" or "Lord____ can beat Rikudou" or whatever.

Thank you Sir Derp for keeping the base alive:win:

OT: I like this theory and it makes me think of the book Eragon, if anyone has ever read it. If not you should, its really sick:cool:

I think this is one of the most logical things I have seen. I mean he has based A TON of stuff in the manga based off ancient legends/gods and myths. Even Suasanoo and Amaterasu have a huge background legend that he tied into the story, actually he stuck to the myth pretty closely. So I wouldn't be surprised by this at all...A lot of people probably didn't know all the legends behind Naruto.
