You hear a lot about the power of a word. When you hear any dynamic speaker and you get motivated by his/her speech. Time passes by. If that speaker did what he/she said, then indeed words have power. But if the speaker is just someone who “talks the talk, but can’t walk the walk”, then his/her speech and words would hold no power to them.

But what about insults? Insults are also words. If some African guy was called N-word, would he believe in that idea “isults are just words you give power to them if you felt insulted”?

I used to be insulted and got angry about them. For now, if someone insulted me, I laugh. Maybe because I gained some wisdom? Maybe because I’m bored and need somebody to talk to? Maybe due to age I’m beyond insults and don’t feel them for the time being? I dunno.

Thoughts?

@bold: I'm not sure if I follow this part

Those people who are "all talk", just like to hear themselves talk.People do it all the time. You kind of KNOW when someone actually means what they're saying and not trying to deceive or mentally manipulate you. It's rare, unfortunately.

But what about insults? Insults are also words. If some African guy was called N-word, would he believe in that idea “isults are just words you give power to them if you felt insulted”?
No bro, you have it all mixed up. A word has power over you, if you take it PERSONALLY. However, YOU have power over of that word or person, if you have the PERFECT response to it. You don't allow people to disrespect you...it ALL depends. Sometimes there's something deep behind the insult, something deceptive, and out of consideration you inform/address that person. Sometimes, you just flip the script on them, and it puts an end to it, cause the person knows you'll just overcome it. But if something is just straight up retarded, you don't have an answer to it or don't care to answer it, you just don't say anything...either way, it doesn't affect you. It's not "responding" that makes you powerless, it's TAKING IT PERSONALLY. You can't be a pushover, it'll get to you.

I used to be insulted and got angry about them. For now, if someone insulted me, I laugh.
There's a difference. Laughing cause you thought it was funny, and you knew the other person was just jealous or getting too ahead of themself...or laughing cause you're entitling yourself to laugh to seem like you're some easy going, push over type of guy. That's self-importance, either way. The self-importance made you take it personally, and the self-importance is what makes you put on an act."Laughing" it off isn't suppose to be a defense mechanism, that's self-denial.

Maybe because I gained some wisdom?
It depends on the situation.Depends on what you noticed. However, knowing something doesn't make you better than the other person. You might just have a bit of common sense.

Maybe because I’m bored and need somebody to talk to?
How can we know this? I think right now you're bored and want someone to talk to.

Maybe due to age I’m beyond insults and don’t feel them for the time being? I dunno.

Thoughts?
Ahhh, I see, you're feeling yourself today. I don't think you're "beyond" insults...either it's you don't care, cause it isn't true and it's plain stupid...or you're just making it up.

If I were to be honest, I don't think your beyond insults...

Words have power and its power is not diminished when the speak doesn't or cannot act on his words himself.
Words can inspire for better or worse.Peace and Understanding through Humility and Passion or Hatred and Violence through Bigotry and Ignorance.

The power of the words rest on intent and not in anyone's ability to ignore the words evoked.
The intent is the manifest of the persons inner thoughts put into action. It is only by showing others the other way can we even come close to breaking the cycle these words get their power from.

Never give up and always be willing to excet people can change which is not the same as people willing to change.
Not sure how to end this so assume i said something clever.
