As of the most recent chapter, Obito Uchiha has broken down and remembered moments with his love interest, Rin.

One of Rin's most defining moments, for Obito, was the moment she stated she would "watch him" [

], and it clearly had a large effect on Obito's psyche.

In the future, Rin's death was the catalyst of Obito's defection to Madara Uchiha's side [

] and become his disciple. Obito was clearly effected by Rin in a large way.

White Zetsu, who works under Madara's orders, stated that he was going to "watch him" as well. [

] Not so coincidentally, Zetsu also understood Obito's infatuation for Rin as well. [

Another large point, still unanswered to this point in the manga, is the time Madara stated that Obito will come back after leaving to go save Rin from the Kirigakure Shinobi. [

] A rather ambiguous comment, but Madara directly stated that he understood that Obito would definitely return to Madara for his forgiveness and to help Madara. Another odd coincidence.

An interesting point is also the [White] Zetsu's ability to completely transform into another body, including chakra signatures and techniques [which could very well replicate Rin's Iryō Ninjutsu]. [

Is it too ridiculous to think that Madara Uchiha could have made Zetsu abduct Rin, steal her body, and plan Obito's downfall? Who knows...

As we all already know - Rin was a jinchuriki and got killed by Kakashi so the Country of the hidden rain isn't able to catch her and make them their slave/ steal her bijuu.
There was never any Kind of contact between Rin and Zetsu.

The only people who have been confirmed to not be able to become a jinchūriki is nonliving creations of the Edo Tensei and those whose bodies are not compatible.

Zetsu is indeed living and his body is made of Hashirama's DNA, someone said to have represent the younger son of the Rikudō Sen'in.

And who is to say Rin being the Sanbi's host is confirmed? All we know is that Obito and Kakashi believe it to be true, while we also know that Yagura was the host of the Sanbi at a very similar time, could it be that Rin was never the Sanbi's host?

Kakashi mourning over Obito for the last 20 years was a bit pointless too, right? Madara saying Obito will return is much too suspicious too ignore.

There is no indication that anyone ever retrieved her body; in fact, I'd say the evidence points to the contrary or people might have wondered who used Mokuton on the Kirigakure Shinobi?
