Before I start I'd like to show you something you might not've known about Tobirama.*
In life, Tobirama had an obsession with perfecting himself, his resolve in this was only surpassed by both Might Gai and Rock Lee - who's dedication and hard work need not be mentioned.*
What is interesting to note is that Gai's obsession to remain youthful was maintained through breaking his physical limits, in a way striving for his own image of perfection. His association with youth in and out of the Eight gates confirms it.*
It wouldn't come as a surprise if Tobirama had some form of eight gates form, considering his goal to perfect himself. Even Kakashi was able to open at least one of the eight gates and he has no real aspirations to note. If anything he looks bored.*
In all honestly, I have my doubts. I think this other method to obtain self perfection is more practical and plausible: Sage mode.*
In the recent chapters, Tobirama has revealed he seems to have intimate knowledge with the Sage toads of Mt Myōbokuzan.*
How would he have any info at all about where they're from, let alone knowledge of Senjutsu and it's special properties?
In comparison to Minato, who's knowledge on the subject seems to be mainly due to Jiraiya
Not only did he know of Senjutsu, he was actually able to recognise Naruto attempting to enter Sage Mode as well as the noticeable physical features it brings.*
Tobirama's aims to perfect himself through the use of Sage mode are not far-fetched at all, all this information was most likely obtained from studying the practice himself, or from his older Brother: Hashirama who had actually learnt Sage mode a long time before Tobirama himself died. I see no reason why Tobirama with greater aspirations on improving himself than his older brother who had Sage mode could not know some form of Sage mode.*
It makes sense for Tobirama to posses some form of Sage mode/other enhanced ability. Not only does he have the means , the drive, the oppertunity to have learnt it and the physical capability to do so; it's also practical for him to have it due to the nature of opponent he now faces, as Sasuke and Naruto both have Senjutsu capabilities. Unless Kishimoti wishes to use this to completely shift the influence to the "new generation".*
