My point is you said there's no reason for Sanji to know rankyaku but it would come in handy in a situation where his opponent has better close range combat.

No where near as close as the sniper.
And every attack zoro nami robin and franky use arre just mid range. I wouldn't be opposed to a mid range attack but its not been forshadowed and would go against something the character said.

Zoro said in latest chapters that his flying slash could reach(albeit with less power) a Pica who was mountains distance away from him. He is a long range fighter

A long range fighter but not a good one.
I would ask what zoro's strongest attack is? Its either 3000 worlds or Loins song (With asura on both ofc) No let me ask again is that long range or close range? Close range. His long distance attacks could bust up a mountain but not knock out pika so lets take this with a grain of salt its not like he could take usopp in a sniper battle.
