The Pain of Loss
As a young boy, I didn’t understand many things,
a multitude of concepts, foreign, and unimportant,
problems others faced, problems I did not share or comprehend,
but if there was one thing I understood, it was love.
That love, which I had known for years, never left,
for it was all spent on the one I could truly call, my love,
she was the one I cherished more than anyone else,
she was the one who I could never forget and would always hold dear.
That love, which I had come to know, as the best feeling in the world,
was crushed when she left, sadness swept over me, like water over a beach,
the love which I had for her, faded, like memories from my mind,
the happiness which I once had, vanished, like a ghost from my sight.
That love, which I had felt so strongly for many years, never returned,
the person I was betrayed by, I never saw again,
the warm heart I once had, turned to stone,
like the love I felt, I turned my back on the world,
the pain of loss, is what I experienced.
