The Oz Chronicles
Chapter 1: The Day...
It was a foggy morning in Raging Rock, Kansas, and it was also a bit humid. A severe thunderstorm was predicted tonight, and rain was predicted for mostly the whole day. The humidity sucked. Everyone hated it, but hopefully the cold front would move in.
Raging Rock, Kansas, was a small town like any other. It had a school for all grades, and homes were scattered throughout the country. The farmers' crops were growing well this year, and right now the crops were sucking up the moisture.
One house was away from all, and it wasn't on flatland, but on a hill overlooking a forest. It was and old house with a fading away paint job. Two German Shepards named Moz and Jack sat in the frontyard watching the unknown world around them.
In the highest room of the house was a sixteen-year-old girl named Amelia who was sleeping. She laid in her black covered bed. Her walls were painted black ,and the carpet was purple. On the walls she had posters of bands, and she also had bookshelves of manga and other books. She had an art studio, guitars, a tv, a PS3, and a Nintendo 3DS.
Amelia yawned, and got up. She had long black hair and wore pajamas of course. She stretched out, washed up, and changed. She wore a gray Nirvana T-Shirt, a black shirt underneath, blue shorts, gloves, a hat, and black shoes. She applied her usual makeup: eyeliner, eyeshadow, and black lipstick.
"June 22, 2012," she said to herslef fixing her hair. "It's been a year..." She looked at a picture of her grandmother and her at the zoo. She picked it up, and became silent. It started raining. She then said, "Of course it rains."
Today was the day the family went to the cemetary to pay respects to their beloved grandmother. They ate breakfest, and left. The storm had become strong, but their truck could break through. The cemetary was three hours away.
Amelia was starting to drift away into dreamland. It was early in the morning. Suddenly she saw something...a person stood in the middle of the road! The person wore a black hood cloak. He or she had their face covered up.
"Stop!" she yelled to her parents. "There's someone in the middle of the road!"
Her father slammed the brakes, and they looked around. "We don't see anything," said her father who was a bit grumpy. Her mother then said, "You should rest. It's a three hour drive."
"Okay," said Amelia. She knew she saw someone, but maybe she was seeing things from being so tired. She closed her eyes, and drifted away...
She woke up in a field surrounded by a forest and mountains. She felt the nice cool wind on her face. The sun shined brightly, and the skies were cleared. She stood up, and looked around. She couldn't believe how beautiful it was here. She was amazed.
She then noticed a portal that was in the middle of the field. She walked towards it, and stopped. She stepped into the portal, and saw she was somewhere else now.
Amelia stood in a white hallway. She turned back to see the door behind her closed. There were many other doors along this hallway as well. At the end of the hallway was a golden door. She ran to it, and slowly opened it. A blining golden light appeared.
She walked in, and saw that she was in a pitched black room. In the middle of the room was a floatinf orb. She walked towards to it, and touched it without thought. Suddenlt the orb broke into millions of pieces, and the floor under her feet disappeared.
She fell and fell into darkness, and heard a voice:
"Young one, you must be ready for what is ahead. The time has come. The day is new. There are many things you will learn, and many things you'll forget. Do not be afraid. Everything will make sense. Do not give up. There will always be a light at the end of the tunnel..."
She the saw ground, and she landed in it on her feet. She looked around to see where she was. She was surrounded by red eyes. A great light appeared, and a golden scythe appeared in her hand. The voice then said:
"Never give up a fight!!!"
The darkness disappeared, and she saw a creature with millions of red eyes. It had tentacles that surrounded her. They too had red eyes. It's skin was as dark as night. She then said, "Bring it on!"
The creatures' tentacles came at her, but she slashed them all away. That made the monster angry. It roared, and realeased and beam of energy. She dodged it, and appeared over its heard. She bashed the scythe into its head, and it disappeared. It reappeared behind her.
It spat fireballs at here one after the other. She kept dodging them though. It then spat a giant fireball at her. She deflected it with all her might. The fireball scorched the monster, and it was on fire. It roared in pain, and the floor underneath them disappeared once again.
Amelia saw what was next below. The creature disappeared, and the next area had a swarm of vicious red eye creatures. She landed in the middle of them, and started twirling. The scythe glowed, and she became a tornado. The creatures were sucked in, and vanished. She landed back on the ground. The ground under her started shaking, and she jumped high enough to see what was happening. The million eye creature from wbefore was now ten times bigger. It had a huge mouth filled with hundreds of rows of sharp teeth.
Its tentacles came at her, and it released a beam of energy. She dodged and slashed the tentacles, but was caught in the beam. Her body glowed, and the beam disappeared. She came at the creature, and her scythe released a beam of golden energy at its open mouth. The monster exploded, and turned into nothing. Amelia was thrown back.
She then heard a woman's voice saying, "Good job Amelia...You'll do fine..."
Amelia closed her eyes, and everything turned silent. She woke up, and saw she was in the back of the truck. Her parents were outside talking to somebody. They were at Rose Gardens Cemetary. It wasn't raining here. She got out the other way, so she wouldn't have to talk to the person. She rubbed her head and told herself, "What a strange dream..."
She then turned around, and in a blink of an eye saw the black hooded person standing on a grave. The person had disappeared again. Amelia looked at the grave, and then her hand imagining the golden scythe.
"I swear someone was watching me," she said wondering about the scythe. She went to her parents, because they were done talking to the person. It was time to see her grandma.
