The over all concept!

First off, this is my opinion. Feel free to disagree but don't start an unnecessary confrontation for an opinion.

Naruto to me, focouses on staying possitive. Look at the characters. Naruto for instance..... He didnt have his parent, the WHOLE village hated him, he was the weakest in the begining but evetually he got to where he is now and potentially will become a legend. Other caracters take there hardship in bad ways, and get so much power but eventually fall short. Basically, you can create your own destiny no matter your circumstance. Misguided anger will only make life harder then it is already. This i find true.....

any other opinions on the over all meaning....?

who are u refuring to? if it's Naruto, he was a kid at that time. Everyone does stupid stuff as a kid, I mean when your old enuff to know what responsibility means

Not sure if you should apply a anime to real life.
But on topic: The overall theme seems to be: to not give up. I mean few would go this long just to "save" a friend.

I get you, but I find people will reenact fiction without even realizing it. Also, that too.
