This sounds stupid, but somehow the last page of 601 reminded me of fairy tail with this one girl that should have gotten killed but instead was sent to a parallel world via anima, where her counterpart was dead.

the words of old madara: "u r between this and the other world"

also the recent movie with the alternative world fits into this.

so:

what if there are two parallel worlds in which one obito died and the other obito somehow survived between both of these worlds, using his seperate dimension.

even while im reading this this sounds just too stupid to be true, but what else could madara mean with: between this and the other world? (dont say life and death, im sure madara wouldnt let obito die, after going through trouble)
and i also dont think that obitos seperate dimension fits to be "the other world".

Ok for the people talking about its the after life and all that shit....he clearly states that this is a place between this and the next. And why would there be a bed in the afterlife? Really?

No, I said Madara meant the next world was the afterlife, not some parallel universe.

NOT bad theory though, I like using fairy tail concept +rep for the creativity, despite I think old Madara meant that Obito was dying and that's why he mentioned that he was in this world (life) and other (afterlife) but still an outrageous theory :D

But if you believe in an after life by definition doesn't that count as a parallel universe/dimension outside of our own?
I think it has to do with Obito's S/T jutsu, think about it; an Uchiha activates his/her sharingan when they lose the MOST IMPORTANT PERSON TO THEM; for Itachi it was Shishui, for Sasugay it was Itachi, for Shishui it was Obito, and for Obito it was Rin, yeah I know he left her but it comes to the same thing. He loved her the way Naruto loves Sakura *vomits in mouth* and death would have been like him losing the thing he loved most; with that his MS activated and subconsciously he sent himself to the other dimension, which could very well just be a space between spaces, a no mans land that Madara probably hid himself in, when Madara saw someone with the MS enter this world he saw an opportunity and jumped at it. Just a thought.
Love the sig by the way.

well here a little bit further:

what if in the other world madara really did die? obito wouldnt survive (there) and wouldnt turn evil (there). the kyubi wouldnt attack. the 4th and his wife were alive, itachi wouldnt kill his clan, sasuke wouldnt go mad... (just thinking about the parallel universe in the road to ninja and the recent filler manga chapters)
