The orochimaru we have today may most likely be fake.

Orochimaru, seems imortal, but is far from it, he just refuses to die, like old people in expensive hospitals. The orochimaru we have, "ressurected" through a curse mark, is just a clone. Like how minato projected himself into naruto's body, the curse mark ressurection is the same, just on roids. Because they're manipulating chakra to create these "clones". This clone thinks its orochimaru, and has the same power, chakra, as well as past memories.
Now, everyone in naruto has a soul, as seen when kakashi died, and when Sarutobi was stealin peoples souls (Props) against orochimaru's subordinates. Now everyone knows there is only one soul per person. So without a proper in body revival(rinnegan), the soul will have passed on already, with no return from a "curse mark" (chakra seal)

I dont think he is a clone i think the jutsu which he experimented on himself allowed him to absorb peoples souls so by splitting his consciousness into to other peoples curse mark it allowed them to gain a small portion of power if they were strong enough to resist with will power and also compatibility with the curse mark (or you would die) so when kabuto inserts oro's chakra and cells into him the natural reaction of these cells is to take over and absorb the persons soul but with kabutos will power he resisted

more proof of this I think is when sasuke was able to reverse oro's technique and absorb him instead

Now anko has a smaller portion of oro's consciousnous and power hence why kabuto wanted her to help with his edo tensei as its oros strong chakra which was able to bind the souls because his power resided in her and his power is also his strong will power to absorb souls due to the changes he made to his body but if u have enough will power u can tame this power and utilize it via the curse mark

and because u can seal it away to stop its effects this meant a reversal of the sealing technique tht kakashi used would allow part of oro.s consciousness although small to come back to life so in essence its not a clone its him being reborn (as he split his consciousness before and so probably goes into play with the metaphor of the "white snake" which always gets reborn) and because he can absorb souls and what not he could easily take back his chakra cells from kabuto

Oro isn't immortal. He just has ways of keeping himself bound to the real world. Think of it like voldemort from Harry potter. He split his soul so that he could live on even if one part died. Okay, well each curse mark is almost like a piece of oro's "soul". When the curse marks are destroyed and all his chakra is erased from the real world, oro is dead.
