Its been said by a lot of people and vise versa for Shippuden.

I enjoyed the Original Naruto more than Shippuden, because it gave every character a meaning. For example, Gaara, Shikamaru, even Choji and Neji. Back in the original, I loved seeing all the characters develop together.

Although, Shippuden feels somewhat like DragonBall Z, started focusing heavily on main characters like Vegeta and Goku. Not using much tactical equipment like in the first season, and not including a lot of characters anymore. Sometimes it actually feels like characters don't even try anymore. For example, in Dragonball, all characters worked together.

Although, I didn't like the original Dragonball that much compared to Dragonball Z, and I do prefer Original Naruto over Shippuden.

Now you could say in the War arc, characters have been developing together, for example, Gaara and his Father, Naruto, Shikamaru and such. But still, Kishi completely converted his series into something worse in my opinion, when the Original Naruto was so good to begin with. But then again, this is all an opinion, what do you think?

Do you think the change in Shippuden was good? Or do you believe the Original should of stayed the same? hmm

I believe Naruto Part 1 was meant to focus on the main dishes of Naruto lore, explaining who ninjas are, what they do, explaining different branches of the military, going into detail of different kinds of jutsu and how they fare against other attacks, et cetera. This series made me feel these guys were actually ninja, due to their fast movements, more prominent use of tools, and thinking of strategies. We don't get into the meat of the story until Shippuden, because this part is focused on the development of the Konoha 12, their endurance in the Chuunin Exams, bringing out who the main foes are, and the tragic loss of a member when he loses his way.

This all brings us to Shippuden, because before then, we know "okay, so there's an organization called Akatsuki, Orochimaru is now at large, he's got Sasuke, and Naruto has beef with both parties." It ties us all together, before shifting forward to the actual plot of Akatsuki's involvement with Project Tsuki no Me. However, like the OP said, the characters in Shippuden get less and less "ninja-y" and more Sorcerers and Martial Artists who belt out more ninjutsu than anything. Only Shikamaru and Tenten still have the Part 1 Ninja style of using tools and thinking of ninjas to achieve victory. In fact, that's all he used to bring down Hidan, an Akatsuki member once thought to be invincible!

I like Shippuden for the plot, I like Part 1 for the definition of Ninja.

That is true, and thats actually why I preferred Part 1, simple because they felt like Ninja rather than canons.
The tactics and tools used, ( Remember when enemies were actually hit by Kunai? ) I miss those times.

Shippuden didn't get "Deeper", it just focused a lot more on certain characters. In my opinion, Part 1's story had me gripped that I loved the story and character development.

I like them both, its a story, not out fault we didn't get to see what happened off screen. I bet Kishi is all like give them more fillers so they can have "development".

Don't you find that strange? ( I also enjoyed Kimimaro ), his character has still such a strong fanbase, yet he was barely shown.
