Atleast Orochimaru survived Totsuka Blade. He's the only one who could come back from that shit, a feat in itself.

Tbh, Orochimaru didn't survive Totsuka. He avoided it altogether. If he didn't avoid it, he'd possibly be gone forever.
Orochimaru actually managed to overcome three soul-sealing Jutsus: Shiki Fuujin, his own Fushi Tensei, and Totsuka. dat orochimaru

But yeah, Itachi is supposed to be the imperfect perfect ninja. He's pretty much like the Indras and Madaras and Danzos in that he thought only he could do everything. Despite his great power and never 100% losing a fight, he was the only one of that type of character to realize you can't do everything yourself. And that's cool I guess lol
