Pretty much this. And to be honest, I'd rather see Orochimaru's own power than another Uchiha, another Sharingan etc.

After seeing Orochimaru again in the latest episode, something tells me there's way more going on to this guy then seen, we don't know what he's fully capable of since we have never seen him fight all out if I remember correctly.

I pretty much lost hope of Orochimaru playing a large role in the rest of the Manga when Madara was brought back to life, as much as I'd like to see it. He's old news now...compared to Madara, Hashirama, current Naruto and Sasuke, Orochimaru isn't all that powerful, definitely not final villain powerful.

The only way for him to make a comeback would be if he somehow stole the body of someone powerful. Considering he failed to take Sasuke's body before Sauce had even awakened MS I don't see his hopes as very high. That's probably why he started just following around Sauce.
