I think the event organizers kept Kishi miles away from anything that could be considered controversial about the ending or the series. They wanted to keep things positive.

-in many of his interviews , he praizes Uchiha Madara, calls him immortal, invincible..the shinobi who had no weakness...not only that but kishimoto says he could'nt kill the character of Uchiha Madara...

-also in the Manga one can easily notice the influence of Uchiha Madara in the Series..Madara was behind all the major plot twists and incidents in Naruto Manga : Uchiha Massacre, obito's turning to the dark side, Mugen tsukoyomi,and the kiyubi attack Konoha....

-sadly in the NYC Comic Con interview ,kishimoto spoke about Hidan, Naruto and Orochimaru,but he didn't say anything about Uchiha Madara... there was no mention of the Mystery that is still Uchiha Madara (Tobidara)...yet despite all these ,i am pretty sure that in kishimoto's mind there is an immortal uchiha Madara who will come back in a naruto part 3...Kishimoto is probably thanking god now that the interviewers didn't ask him about Madara uchiha, becuz making madara come back to the series will be his biggest surprise to Naruto fans!

Because the fans ain't sh!t and wasted an opportunity....and/or they cherry picked idiots to ask him bull sh!t that we've all read and heard before.

So, yeah. Going back to the topic. Maybe he didn't mention him because he might accidentally reveal stuff to us fans. He might be hiding 50 plot twists up his sleeves that day or whatever lmao
