that's why I read manga quite a bit atm, quick and easy to read and get through ^^
Hmm...out of that list I would probably say Mort by Terry Pratchett. Love that book ^^ Fourth Book of the discworld series and first book of the death stories. About a boy called Mort who is taken as Death's apprentice ^^

but I recommend Discworld full of adventures and have slight comedy throughout ^^
Books like Sherlock Holmes are good mystery stories. (a manga like that is Detective Conan. If you read it you'll quickly see why xd)
