I have a theory about the possibilities for the next hokage.

First I'll give my opinions:
-Naruto(Of course)
-Sasuke
-Sakura

Now I'll explain each one:
-Of course! Naruto, the main character, and protagonist who's sole goal is to become Hokage. He has come a LONG way since the academy and he is the son of the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze. His love for his friends AS WELL AS compassion for his foes makes him a viable candidate for the next Hokage similar to how the Senju ancestor inherited the Sage of Six Paths.

-Sasuke will make more sense once my Theory of Patterns is explained. Regardless, Sasuke, like his brother achieved ranks above that of his peers. He has the intellect to lead and his belief in strength assures that the village will not fall so easily.

-And lastly, Sakura's superior intellect and clarity ensures that the village will be safe and prosperous. She, like Naruto, has come a long way. On top of her smarts, she's got monstrous strength and healing powers, much like the Hokage she trained under.

Next I'll provide a counter argument for each one:
-Naruto couldn't become the next Hokage because he's still a gennin. Yes, he is damn near SO6P, BUT it would be a little odd for him to go from gennin to Hokage, right? I DO believe Naruto will become Hokage after his legible rank increases to what it is in actuality. Since there are no detailed specifics on what things, aside from the exams, grant one increased rank, perhaps Naruto could be named chunnin, or even jonin, one day sannin, and eventually Hokage.

-Okay, I shouldn't have to explain why Sasuke probably won't be Hokage any time soon, but I will anyway. Sasuke is a rouge ninja and was labeled an international criminal. He has attacked several high-ranked individuals, yes, including that jerk, Danzo. Not to mention his current extreme hatred for Konoha. On top of that, like Naruto, according to Leaf specifics, he is still a gennin, even though Genma proclaimed to Sasuke during the attack on the leaf,"...you've already achieved chunnin level." It's not impossible, but A LOT of things have to happen before Sasuke can become Hokage.

-I don't see a clear reason to object to Sakura becoming Hokage.

Next is my Theory of Patterns: Hokage take the seat by succession or by teacher-student relations.
-Lets start from the beginning of how Hokage took the throne.

-First was Hashirama Senju. He was voted into the seat, by the land of fire, as what was claimed by Obito as the plot to oppress the Uchiha, which ultimately succeeded.

-Next to take the throne was Tobirama Senju, the first hokage's younger brother.

-With no knowledgeable family-of-age left(I say that because Tsunade was born but still young), Hiruzen Sarutobi became the third hokage, his sensei was the second hokage. The third hokage, taught the three legendary sannin. The Sannin are part of my theory as "the exceptional exception to the rule".

-The next Hokage was not one of the Sannin, but in fact a student of the Sannin, Jiraiya. Yes, Minato Namikaze. But, since he died while the third was still alive, it only made sense to re-elect him.

-The fifth hokage, Lady Tsunade, WAS, in fact, a student of the third hokage. Jiraiya was also elected, however he declined, we also know that at some point in Hiruzen's younger life, he wanted to choose Orochimaru as the next hokage, but couldn't because he saw the lustful desire in Orochimaru's eyes when he was young.

-So it is safe to say that all three Sannin were at one point eligible Hokage.

-The next Hokage was Danzo, I'll count him for clarity, as he was also a student of the second Hokage.

-The next Hokage, again, I'm counting for clarity, was and is, Kakashi Hatake, a student of the fourth Hokage.

-So even without counting the Sannin who respectfully taught my three candidates, the current Hokage was the sensei of my three candidates. That being said, not only is Sakura a candidate due to her relationship with Tsunade, the fifth, and Sannin, Naruto and Sasuke have a chance according to my theory because of Kakashi, and Jiraiya and Orochimaru respectively.

-To conclude, with this theory, I have proven that the next Hokage is most likely Sakura Haruno due to her direct relationships will the fifth hokage and sannin, and her sensei/7th Hokage, Kakashi Hatake.

-I would like counter-arguments and opinions about my theory, feedback is MUCH appreciated. I take constructive and not so constructive criticism with equal consideration.

Sakura doesn't have any trait of being a hokage. She would even loan the village to Sasuke if required.

I wouldn't be surprised if Naruto was made Hokage as a Genin.

Sasuke is just a hell no. And Sakura? She hasn't really achieved acclaim amongst her peers. Sure, maybe down the rooad in 20 years, but not now. Naruto is the village hero. Kakashi's rep is renowned world-wide. Sasuke is known as a criminal so the other villages wouldn't want relations with the Leaf if he was elected.

Gennin is only a rank. I'm sure Naruto could slaughter most of the Jounin if he wanted. Hell, maybe a few Kage.

Its true that it is just a rank but they might force him to take chunnin exams and then a few missions just for the hell of it xD
Imagine him never being able to pass the written test again xD

I honestly do not ever think Sakura will become Hokage....she lacks in leadership and in will power.

When Pain destroyed Konoha she broke down and asked for Naruto. Tsunade still stood in opposition to Pain despite being in a worse condition. She also broke down when trying to kill Sasuke...while I understand she loves Sasuke, she should never have even considered going after him unless she knew FOR 100% certainty that she could carry it out.

The fact she made the poor decision to go after Sasuke reflects poorly on decision making and leadership. A leader must always be ready to stand by their actions, and be ready for the consequences. Another failure in leadership was on the way to Sasuke. If she was already not postitive she could kill Sasuke, she should never have incapacitated those who came to help balance out her uncertainty. A leader would try to do something, but Sakura has already given up on Naruto and Sasuke...leaving them to solve out the problem.

Besides that there are already three people more qualified. Naruto, Kakashi, and Shikamaru (This would also be the order of likelyhood...Naruto, Kakashi, Shikamaru)

Shikamaru: Obvious leadership...he was the de facto commanding officer of the Long Range Division since Gaara was technically the overall commanding general. Gaara just happened to be a long range fighter. He also lead, planned, and carried out the strike against my man Kakuzu :'(. He is also more than likely the smartest person alive in the series in overall intelligence (people like Madara and Kakuzu besting him in combat expirience and basically history due to their extended lives). His intelligence easily makes him a strong fighter. Honestly the only thing he lacks is the pattern, though, he did go on a mission under team Asuma with Kakashi at the head.

Kakashi: He fits the bill in terms of the lineage cycle. He is also an amazing leader. Zabuza arc, and then now as the 3rd division leader (Short to Mid-range division). Finally his intelligence and skills overall surpass Sakura.

Naruto: While not super smart, he is easily one of the greatest leaders in terms of beliving in those around him, and in boosting/ encouraging those around him. He has unimaginable strength. He also already has the support of the people...and even the world now. Not too hard to explain. He also follows the patter, and technically has distant relations to the other Kage.

I respect your theory, and believe me it deffinatly makes sense in a logical perspective....however, I feel Sakura, despite being smart and relatively strong just lacks that extra quality needed in a Kage...that acceptance of the people, and the ability to encourage them.

A final note would be that they said the Hokage was the strongest Shinobi in the village...sadly I still see several other K10 (RIP Neji) members stronger than her....let alone the other Jonin that are probably stronger than the K11.

This^ While I disagree about Shikamaru about being Kage, he has the brains of an advisor, though. He just doesn't have devastating jutsu that normally comes along with being a Kage.

That's exactly why he was in the third slot...he has nowhere near the strength of a Kage in firepower...but he deffinately has the brains for it. Also if Naruto is Hokage, he is easily his Shizune!

It will take a long time for any chance (if any) for Sasuke to become Hokage. You need more than just strength to become Hokage; you need the trust and respect of your village. You also need the right ideals.

Why do you think Madara got kicked/abandoned from of his clan?
