He had it activated throughout entire days, the only times he didn't is when he was out of chakra or had overused MS. So yes, indeed, he did have it basically activated all the time.

if he's an Uchiha then he would have deactivate his Sharigan like the others.

my guess is that he's an experiment created by Orochimaru and Oro modified him to have a large chakra pool to be able to withstand the usage his Sharingan.

Itachi in general kept his sharingan activated at all times except for when his chakara was drained after a battle.

You think that because he has it activated during battle , obviously and nearly anytime we see him, flashbacks included. He's slaughtering his clan, genjutsu'ing fellow akatsuki members or fighting. Did he have it active heading to the leaf at the start of part 1? Why would he have it active if it wasn't necessary? His stamina is wank in comparison to others + aids..

He also didn't have it when he was chillin' with kid Sasuke or when the Uchiha came to see why he wasb't at the meeting etc. As far as I remember anyway. Itachi is nearly always super relevant in an immediate way when he is in an episode/chapter. Therefore the sharingan is needed. Remember it senses danger via chakra blah blah blah..

No, once he became a missing nin his Sharingan was always activated, never once did he deactivate it unless he'd overused MS or used up his chakra.
He had it activated even when he was simply chilling lol.
Sharingan doesn't take up very much chakra when you are an Uchiha.
