Any fans of Doctor who heard about the new Doctor?

Peter Capaldi an actor from the recently released World War Z film has been named as the new Doctor.

Does Peter match your expectations? Or is there a better person you hoped to play one of Earths greatest saviors?

Would you of rathered the Doctors skin changed colour to allow someone of a different race to take up the role? Or perhaps a woman?

I think this is a fantastic decision.

He clearly already has the look, it'll scare off the tumblr fangirls and I didn't have to look up the new actor to find out who the hell he is for a chance.

I think he will be good, thats the beauty of Doctor Who, a new person brings their own style to it, makes it magical.

No. Freaking. Way.

It's going to be weird seeing him not swear excessively after watching The Thick of It. Nonetheless, he's a brilliant actor and I'm sure he'll pull off this role great. xD

The doctor doesn't need to run around all frantically- it's only the last 2 out of the 11 who have been so animated and and energetic. Tom Baker, Patrick Troughton, man even Christopher Eccleston did the role perfectly without needed to jump up and down like a baby rabbit.

Lol exactly the reason i don't watch the older versions U_U

For me to enjoy the doctor he needs to be quirky,Positive and energetic, Yes yes his intellect should be the thing to allow him to escape most scenario's but the doctor not running, or jumping is just a mellow bland doctor U_U

Best doctor of all time is most likely David Tennent

Although i liked Chirs, He was a bit too dramatic

If you prefer Tennant that probably explains why you don't favour the older episodes. Honestly none of them are bland and stationary (except maybe the 1st but he WAS an old man) Pertwee was more of a James Bond action hero, Davison was youthful and naive and Patrick Troughton was the perfect balance of silly, jumpy and stern.

David Tennant is the most unlike the others the Doctors even become, so if he does turn out to be a more laid-back, genuine Doctor who it actually IS more the show going back to the norm and a breath of fresh air than a boring twist.

Not really as Matt smith was also like that , i thought he was a wonderful doctor,

Also most people who have watched the old ones still rank tennant as number 1 and 2, so it can't just be because i like tennant

And if laid back is the norm of the doctor, then they were right to correct it, U_U

Sorry, that's just your opinion. Can't fault Doctor Who for being Doctor Who. Introducing another older actor is something the crew wanted to do for ages and personally i'm happy they have because now they've totally alienated the obnoxious fangirl tumblr fandom part of the audience who only watch it for GIFs and the 'feels' and for pretty boys and now we can go back to what the show is ultimately about. Also have you ever watched any classic episodes? They're called classics for a reason. I can name several which are far better and more entertaining to watch than anything from say, the past 2 years. Just because a doctor is running about giggling crazy doesn't mean he's not fun to watch. They add so much more to the character and there's always the right amount of action.

BTW there is no 'ultimate' doctor and if there was the vast majority verdict certainly wouldn't be tennant.

Oh god yes i have watched some of these so called "classics" and although yes their story was above par, there are some in the newer age which creativity far outshines that of the older ones, Lmao and how have they eliminated it ? ..I go on tumblr and see billions of capaldi gifs already just on his interviews alone...no your naive if you think this will stop it, theres really nothing you can do about the gifs and savage fanboyism,

However us true fans take pride into the show and don't disgrace it U_U That's simply all you can do, and you clearly are just spouting stuff now .."running around giggling" The most emotional and Dramatic doctor who moments have come from the New Gen ..soo

also no David tennant was voted most popular doctor ..so i mean, not much else to say you can look it up at almost any source and he is always number one

Ign (basically the official's of TV) Ranked him as Numero Uno on the Doctor list, with the rest of the gen's taking 3rd and 4th

or if you want to look at the fan's side of things nope he's still number one perhaps its cause the other fans have...passed on but the fact remains most people who have seen both prefer David Tennant

How interesting! O: I had no idea Tennant was so widely acclaimed. In my circles the only Tennant fans seem to be the in denial obsessive kind who refuse to give Smith or anyone after him a chance. Around here the most widely popular seem to be Tom Baker and Matt Smith, how cool.

Still, there is no ultimate doctor in terms of the show is what I meant, the fanbase will always have favourites but the doctor is the doctor and I think unless another unacceptable era like JNT happens again (showrunner ruined the show and didnt give Colin Baker a chance) the doctor will always be enjoyable to watch because it really is just the same person in there. You watch Matt Smith and you can see elements of Baker, Tennant, Troughton all the time.

Basically whatever personality the doctor has, I can always support it because I know the character, and I know that there hasn't been one disagreeable one between them yet if you know what I mean.

Indeed, unless they change it to a female however, im not sexist or anything , i just think it would ruin the show ...The only female ever who could pull off the doctor was Dona, (Catherine Tate) IMO...Even then it would be iffy, as his sexuality would be criticized throughout rest of the show

It's not sexist to think that, I think the same! A black doctor could so work because there are so many good black english actors who could do the role justice (adrian lester god please one day) but a woman wouldn't work because the Doctor character is already so well established to be a male personality, an eccentric silly man. He has many fatherly figure traits and to see him become a woman would basically crush them all.

Completely and utterly agree
