[Theory] The Naruto that defeated Pain and Jiraya were equally strong

Jiraya destroyed 3 Pain bodies.

Naruto got to Nagato.

The reason that Naruto did what Jiraya couldn't is because:

1. Naruto had intel/research from Jiraya, Ma & Pa, and Tsunade's slug.
2. Pain wasn't trying to kill Naruto because he needed him alive. He could have done so when he had him pinned to the ground. He was definitely trying to kill Jiraya though.
3. Nagato had a small percentage of his chakra and some of his summoning beasts wiped out by the Hidden Leaf in the process of obliterating it.

If Jiraya had those 3 advantages he would have done just as well as Naruto did if not better.

You're right, and the Pain that fought Naruto wasn't fresh. Naruto also had help with Ma summonong the toads allowing Naruto to save stamina.

If only Jiraiya killed first the Pain Avatar who revives other avatars, then, Jiraiya would have won.

Jiraiya Sage Mode solos Tendô, especially with the deadly Toad Genjutsu.

The only thing which make Jiraiya lose, is that this damn Pain Avatar revived the three Avatars Jiraiya killed before. Without this, Jiraiya had to face Tendô + 2 no really powerful Avatars when they are single.
