The Kekkei Tota (KKT) is IMO, either a major plot hole or, one of the biggest Naruto mysteries of all time. Why? Simply because all that we know about it till now has been dodgy and contradictory at best. Let me explain...
Kishi thus far has portrayed the KKT to be simply a more powerful, more developed form of a KKG, allowing the melding of 3 elements instead of just 2. However, if we follow that logic, why is it that a KKT can be learnt (ie: Onoki learnt Particle Release from Mu), but a KKG can only be inherited through a bloodline limit?
I thought of some possibilities:
- A KKT necessarily requires one to have a KKG as a prerequisite because the bearer of the KKT would have to have the ability to meld different chakra types to begin with. Hence, it is possible that Mu and Onoki have a KKG that has yet to be revealed. (Highly unlikely)
- A KKT can only be inherited through a bloodline limit, just like a KKG. Hence, it is possible that Mu and Onoki are related by blood. (HMMM)
- A KKT isn't like a KKG at all in that it does not involve the same type of chakra-melding ability a KKG requires. (Possible...)
- Kishi screwed up the plot. (Likely)
-------------------------
Let's lay out all the facts we know about Kekkei Tota:
1) It is an ability that allows the bearer to combine 3 nature transformations (as opposed to just 2, as in a KKG)
2) It is a more advanced form of KKG (or is it?)
3) Mu and Onoki are the only known bearers of a KKT
