Hello everyone,
So as we all know the Naruto series has always fallen disappointingly short when showing development in female characters. Which female characters do you think deserve the most development and why?
The selections (poll is multiple choice):
1.) Mei: She has three elements and two kekkei genkai, but in battle she has never shown how versatile she should be. Instead she just sticks to two constant kekkei genkai justus and that's about it. We don't know anything about her reign as Mizukage and she never got to do anything significant when fighting Madara, which was very disappointing.
2.) Tenten: Has only had one relevant fight in the series and even then she was easily defeated. She has had no new techniques shown since Part 1 and barely gets any panel time. She gets the sage's weapon but then it's immediately taken away.
3.) Temari: Has an awesome personality and attitude but had barely any development in Part 2. She has not shown any new jutsus and during the Rescue Kazekage Arc she could have gone to fight the Akatsuki but instead was put on border patrol duty.
4.) Hinata: She has had a little bit of development in Part 2 but she always seems to stay in Neji's shadow. She only has one custom move but it was godstomped by Deva Pain. Hinata also had a time to shine during the War Arc but instead it mostly involved being defended by someone else or dealing with her love for Nardo.
5.) Kurenai: Was labelled as the genjutsu specialist in Konoha but barely put up a fight versus Itachi. There were also plenty of times to show her training and fighting with Team 8 but that never happened. In Part 2 she is rarely shown and is then removed completely by getting prego.
6.) Shizune: She was supposed to be proficient with poison and senbon, which would have been an interesting combination to see expanded on in battle. Received quite a bit of hype from Kabuto in Part 1 but was quickly removed from the field to become Tsunade's assistant.
7.) Anko: Has only had two fights vs Kabuto and Orochimaru and she was easily owned by both of them. She's been nothing more than a plot device for them since, like having the curse mark for Orochimaru's revival. Now she's been uselessly left and forgotten in a cave.
8.) Kushina: She obviously had a background of being a Kunoichi or she wouldn't have been in the academy or wore a headband in the flashbacks, but instead of having her fight she's shown supporting Minato or cooking dinner. She also had a huge knowledge about Uzumaki seals but the series never showed her battle prowess with that either.
9.) Yugito: She's one of my favorite Jinchuurikis and probably has a lot more cool moves along with Matatabi (two-tails) but they were never shown. Her battle with Hidan and Kakuzu was the perfect time to showcase this but it wasn't even shown.
10.) Fuu: Another female jinchuuriki but with even less development than Yuugito. Fuu has no back story, we don't know who from the Akatsuki defeated her, and we've only seen two of her techniques.
11.) Hanabi: Was shown in Part 1 for only a small amount of time. She was mainly a plot device that was used just to explain how weak Part 1 Hinata was and how strong part 1 Neji was. After all that one-time hype she was never seen again.
