Not long before the massacre, when Itachi was foolishly provoked. He decided to give his clansmen a piece of his mind. He completely let his emotions get the best of him. As a professional liar and concealer of the truth, this speech completely contradicted everything Itachi had done up until this point......and what he said was what he truly felt, in order to make his people understand....

"As I've just said, you shouldn't judge others simply by your own pre-conceptions and judgements of their appearance. You assumed....that I have patience....

The clan, the clan.....you all failed to measure the capacity of that container, and to see the depth of mine....and as a result, you lie here......grovelling.

You hold on to the organisation, your name, your clan.....these things limit us, they limit our capacities, and they deserve to be shunned!!

It is foolish to fear, what we've yet to see and understand!"

To his father: "You forget what is most important to you, because you cling to something small like your clan.

True change cannot occur if you're bound by laws and limitations, and are satisfied with premonitions and imagination."

What did you learn? Tell me...

Itachi taught me that we shouldn't take this manga too seriously like others have.

Sorry, but I don't agree that those are his most important lessons. The only one that applies to me personally as an American is the one about prejudging people, mainly because our country doesn't have clans.

The thing that always stuck to me most that he said was 'you never know what kind of person you are until you're about to die'.

It is quite true. I nominate his view on people's "reality" for most important rather than this, though.

Well that's a universal truth. What you might think is a lie and a joke, might be someone else's religion and truth.

This speech is when he was actually trying to teach something desperately.

Meh. To me it's nothing more than stating the obvious

I'll give one single, simple example......the word 'clan', can also be interpreted as 'religion', that is just one of the many ways I see it's application in our world.

Imo this one struck out to me a few years ago whenever the manga came out... Never took the time to realize that even us humans are living in a world where what is defined as "right" and "wrong" was shaped by others and may change in the future.... there is no true meaning to "right" "wrong" , as he said, Simply vague concepts

As for what Itachi was specifically telling his father.. he was telling him that he focuses too much on the clan, and forgets what else is important.. such as his family, sasuke etc
^Similar situations to what he talked about can also be seen in the world

You're right.. That was ONE moment in the manga , where Itachi actually lost his cool, and broke down into his real personality..normally , as the db says, he's emotionless, cool , calm and collected

@ your pic. I agree with your opinion on it.

And I think I've read it in a philosophical book also.

It doesn't necessarily have to refer to clans only.
