Actually I never liked the idea of trying to be a friend just for training. It makes you seem like you've got ulterior motives or something. >_>
I'm not saying to not do that, but it's not my preferred method. My best advice would be to be passive about it. Just have it somehwre casually and someone may be offering. I got training just by saying I was looking for it as my status message thing, so it does work. Don't seem too needy or you won't get training.
