China will never be up there. They're the most overrated country in history, no offense to anyone.

Why? They have no half-decent Universities after High School.

They are also far more dependent on the U.S. than the U.S. is on them. I could go much further, but to much work.

People completely over-blow America's "recession", because of the way the Media portrays it.

Hyperion , now days no one care about education ... I am focusing on acting as my life style while
People only care about having fun and enjoy life ..
Class, my friend.
America needs a return of Class. Too bad we no longer have Johnny Carson, and hardly any of this generation listens to Jazz.
Compadre, Whats 50 cents to Education and 100$ to Weapons?

Not to mention the lack of qualified teachers?
Well, if the Federal Govt. weren't so demanding, maybe there'd be no lack of qualified instructors/teachers etc.

.50 to 100, I was being nice when I said 3:1.

Lots of fingers to point, but little responsibility to be taken?

For this particular survey I'm not surprised about the results. The U.S. has the best tertiary education education system in the world, it shouldn't be too surprising that 42% of the population has a college degree or something equivalent to it. The only reason I would be shocked is because the U.S. has a population of around 310 million people; that would mean that around 125 million people in the U.S. have a college degree or something equivalent to it. That's a shitload of people

As for why countries like India and China didn't make this list, it's because they have 1.21 and 1.35 billion people respectively. That means in India they would need around 450 million people to have a tertiary education to make this list, and China would need around 500 million people to have a tertiary education to make this list. And China and India have no where near either amount

Basically this list is only about percentages and does not actually equate to the U.S. or any other country on this list being "more educated". It only means a higher amount of people in these countries probably went to college and got degrees, with most of them most likely being bullshit degrees

Like how America owes China trillions and America dropped in GDP??
Yeah China is the fastest growing Nation in terms of $$.

That's all they got.

I don't feel like arguing with you on this, but yes they are far more dependent on America.

Proof:

Why education is overrated:

Dependence ratio: China's amount of workers is the main reason they have so much money. However, by 2035 280 million Chinese will be 65 or older. Just think about how much senior discounts will cost the nation.

Interesting read on Dependence ratio:

China is a gimmick that will fall apart in 20 years.

I'm not saying the national debt is nothing to worry about. I'm just saying that China is nowhere near the threat people make it out to be.

So I guess the stereotype of hard-ass Chinese parents goes out the window, suprising, really, because my parents were pretty hard-assed about school.

I'm an ABC (American Born Chinese)

I dont think just reading that article is enough, you need to check literacy, education index, actual international comparisons and more ...

The U.S. shouldn't even be up there.

Although the U.S. is one of just a few nations where more than 40% of people had a tertiary education in 2010, its education system is not without problems. Among the concerns, the graduation rate for upper secondary students in 2010 was 77%, well below the average rate of 84% for the OECD. Even though graduation rates were relatively low, the U.S. is one of the biggest spenders on education, with related expenditures equaling 7.3% of GDP in 2009. The U.S. was also the world’s largest spender on tertiary education in 2009, at 2.6% of GDP. The majority of funds for higher education, totaling 1.6% of GDP, came from private sources.

They can spend whatever sums they want on education if they don't learn s*hit

And you both live where?

Who said they were a threat? America owes them more than they owe us.
The thing that is really ignorant of you is that you call another countries development a gimmick, how American of you.
