Might be hard for us NB users as a whole to comment and reflect on themselves but let's try anyway. These ninja i've noticed are often downplayed, often because they're compared to or threaten the mantle of other more popular characters when it comes to VS matchups, hard work and intelligence.
There's always a reason for each one and I think I know why. Let's play.
1. Shikamaru Nara
Often threatens Uchiha fans and not only is his clan ignored from all intelligence lists but other fanbases pretend he doesn't exist. When realistically Shikamaru is one of the most important ninja to have on your side.
His mature character (worthy of being the protagonist, honestly) and amazing character development as he grows out of laziness and naturally accepts and makes peace with responsibilities, revenge and heartbreak is amazing. Itachi fan tried telling me once he's as disposable as the rest of the K11. Ouch.
2. Hashirama Senju
Not as 'cool' as Madara I guess? But definitely threatens the proud and loud Madara fanbase pre-handout powerup. But hugely powerful, born into a badass era and changed it with his own hands. The strongest of his age but not elitist- him begging the weaker Kage to form an alliance is a hugely underrated moment. Now? Nobody talks about the guy despite him being hugely overpowered.
Personality wise? The carefree Hashirama was no Shonen Naruto. When he got serious he put his true personality away and got his hands dirty.
3. Sakura Haruno /
4. Tsunade Senju
As a character I can't defend Sakura...(she only becomes tolerable and utilised well as a female lead from the novels & the Last onwards) but skill-wise and power-wise she matches Tsunade in every way, which IS impressive for a K11 member at the point of the war. Sakura becoming Sannin level is impressive- it's just that NB also doesn't pull their punches with Tsunade either.
Whether it's because she's a woman, isn't elitist or doesn't have a cool battle-orientated moveset? I've seen claims over the years that she gets mid diff'd by early Kakashi, Hidan and Part 1 Sasuke.
5. Chouji Akamichi
Sakura fans also enjoy downplaying Chouji as a result. I won't restart this argument again but this is a joke match-up where Sakura gets decimated, making Chouji possibly the most underrated ninja power-wise on the forum. Combination of being a joke character for Part 1, completely misunderstood by a certain type of fan, not pandering to the cool-looking Uchiha type crowd and stepping on the toes of other fanbases.

Nagato, Darui, Onoki and Gaara and are also rarely talked about considering their impressive feats throughout the series.
Who would you suggest? Let's keep the flaming to a low can we?
