I disagree. Money isn't anywhere near the most improtant thing in the world. Money is just there to help you survive. People who would do anything just to become rich or famous are a disgrace. For the record: you're not rich if you have a lot of money, you just have a bunch of stuff. u.u

If people "respect" you just because of your financial state, then they don't respect you at all. They just see you as a usefull person. True respect isn't based on material aspects.
