The mist villagers are mutants

I know this is naruto and there's some pretty weird stuff in here but what's with the whole sharp pointy teeth thing going on with some of the mist villagers they're not from the same clan so it's not a kekkei genkai,ideas?

Maybe when they're inducted into the villages teams all applicants must undergo a teeth-filing ritual.

Its visually striking and somewhat menacing, which would serve the village; as then they would seem monstrous or demon-like. It made you wonder right?

I think it was explained somewhere that only the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist have sharp teeth.
The aspiring members of the group sharpen their teeth to show their allegiance to the group. I guess it's like the Akatsuki Robes?
