Chapter 24 - "Close Ranged Combat"
He manages to stand on his feet with a small burning mark on his open white shirt, and smoke coming up from his short hair after the shockwave.
Skylar: Wow… That actually went better than I thought…
Slate looks down at him after having looked up at the ceiling in several seconds; taking off his now burnt shirt, and throws it at the floor.
Slate: Bastard… Did you just invent that attack?
Skylar burst off sand from his hair and clothes as he has done before, and gives of a small laugh before he answers.
Skylar: Nah, you’re just the first person I’ve used it on…
Sand circles up around Slate’s feet from the ground; controlled by his hand movements. The amount of sand gets bigger and bigger for each second.
Slate: Then it seems like a long ranged combat won’t work against you…
They walk closer without taking their eyes off each other; covered by their milit powers. Both of them are suddenly face to face with their milits powers twisting around each other.
Slate: …So let’s see if close range works..!
Their fists covered in their milit powers connect more than once, and start hitting each other with a battle of endurance.
-The scene switches to Alice and Mia-
Mia dodges another shot from Matt’s shotgun, while pushing Alice away from Katherine knife swing. She jumps up in the air, and quickly kicks them both in the face; sending them flying in some planks and buckets.
Katherine: (Arrgh! Just how strong is that black haired chick!?)
Mia lands safely on her feet, and prepares to attack ones more. She runs towards Matt in high speed, dodges his shot in the process, and kicks him in the stomach before he gets to react.
Katherine: (…Was she this strong before!?)
He flies violently out of the alleyway; covered in blood and saliva, and lands on the ground unconscious several meters away.
Alice: I-Incredible… (She can protect me and stand up to those two at the same time…)
Mia walks towards Katherine with a fearless look; sweeping off some of Matt’s blood from her face and neck.
Mia: Heh, this is so much easier than when I was fighting all four of you earli-
Katherine: Don’t get too full of yourself!! We’re the cowboy group with a 6 million bounty, The Sand Cowboys!!
Katherine runs towards her with one of her big knives in the air; swinging it quickly towards her. Mia grabs her hand before it slashes down at her, and breaks it as easily as if it was a stick. She lets go of both her knives; screaming in pain and falls to the ground.
Katherine: Damn you, bi-
Mia kicks her violently right in the face before she finishes her sentence; making her unconscious immediately.
Mia: Let’s go now, red hair…
Alice walks out of a corner in the alleyway; staring at Mia in both shock and confusion after her comment.
Alice: W-where are we going?
Mia: Where do you think? Back to the saloon of course… and my dad is probably still sleeping in there…
They walk bloody and sweaty out of the alleyway after the battle; going back to the saloon where both Skylar and Luke are fighting with the other members of the Sand Cowboys.
Mia: …He takes sleeping pills, so waking up because of some sound isn’t going to work on him.
