Chapter 20 - "Sand"
Slate: Huh? Who the hell are you?
Skylar walks towards The Sand Cowboys with his big backpack, while holding the turned on lighter in his hand; which he crush to pieces immediately.
Skylar: …That’s my question to you…
People who are hiding in their houses watch the situation, and start whispering to themselves.
Random man: H-hey… Who are they?
Random woman: I don’t know… Never seen them before…
Mia is both surprised and shocked seeing Skylar and the others here. Cowboys; the one thing she hates the most just saved her precious saloon from burning down to ashes.
Mia: Why are you here!? I never asked for help from you cowboys!
She screams at Skylar, still being grabbed in her black long hair by The Sand Cowboy Kace.
Skylar stares at her, giving her a serious look and takes off his backpack.
Skylar: You’re wrong if you think I’m just going to watch them hurt you and your saloon…
Mia is now more surprised; expecting him to act more like a normal cowboy.
Skylar looks now at Kace, which makes him let go of Mia’s hair. He takes a few steps backwards towards Slate, who is now staring at Skylar and the others with a curious look.
Slate: (They are cowboys…) This is none of your business… Leave now, or else we-
Luke: Yeah, like that happens…
It’s silent between them after Luke’s comment, and the only sound is now the wind which goes through the whole town. It takes several seconds before Slate starts talking again.
Slate: What’s your cowboy group’s name?
The question irritates Skylar, but it doesn’t take long before he answers it.
Skylar: What if I say we don’t have a name yet?
The Sand Cowboys members start to laugh at Skylar’s answer. Skylar gets more and more annoyed while talking to them.
Slate: You think you nameless cowboys can beat us right here and-
Skylar suddenly stands right in front of him; staring into his eyes with anger and tension.
Around his body is a small amount of sparking electricity, and it stings on Slate's body.
Skylar: I recommend you shut up...
The electricity makes Slate jump back in surprise, and the same does his group members. They all stare at the sparking electricity around Skylar; knowing what he is.
Slate: (Is that electricity!?) …You’re a Milit…?
A bigger amount of electricity covers his left hand, and he gets ready to attack them.
Skylar: Yeah, I am… I manipulate lightning… Enough talk! Let’s do this!
Skylar starts running towards Slate, and is in front of him in only a second. He prepares to hit him with his fist covered in electricity.
Slate: (So it was electricity…) If you’re a Milit, then you’re going to like this…
Slate moves his hand a little, and sand suddenly appears in front of him; blocking Skylar’s punch and sends him flying backwards.
Luke & Alice: Skylar!
Skylar keeps his balance, and manages to land on his feet right in front of Luke and Alice.
He looks up in surprise, and sees the sand circling around Slate.
Skylar: S-Sand?
Luke: So he is a Milit himself…
The sand around Slate slowly disappears, and he seems more pumped up than before.
Slate: Helping a woman who is against cowboys? Foolish! …Kace, Katherine, and Matt… You know what to do!
