Chapter 10 - Different
A big amount of electricity surrounds Skylar, and sparks around him. People inside their houses start looking out their windows to see what’s happening.
Lieutenant John: Electricity? I see… So that’s your disgusting Milit power.
Skylar: Yeah, let’s do this…
Skylar runs towards the lieutenant with full speed, and is right in front of him in a second.
Lieutenant John: (Fast!)
He hits the lieutenant in the stomach with a fist covered in electricity, and sends him flying a few meters backwards.
Skylar: You have no chance of winning if I use this power…
The lieutenant falls to the ground in pain, and looks up at Skylar.
Lieutenant John: Da-damn you Milit…
He slowly stands up and tries to walk over to Skylar, but only stumbles down to the ground again halfway. Skylar looks at him while he lies at the ground.
Skylar: I have fought since I was a kid; I fight now, and will do so until I die. People like you are the reason for this. It’s the same with that homeless girl over there…
Skylar looks at Alice who is still hiding behind the small barrel.
Skylar: You think you can ruin our lives because we are different!?
People and families whispers to each other while listening to what Skylar says. The lieutenant slowly stands up again and tries to hit Skylar.
Lieutenant John: I can't... I can’t lose to a disgusting Milit brat!!
Skylar: You already have…
Skylar is suddenly in front of him again, giving him a lightning uppercut, which sends him flying a few meters up in the air. He falls down to the ground again unconscious.
The citizens look at Skylar in shock, and can’t comprehend what happened. They just saw their town’s lieutenant being easily beaten by a kid.
Skylar: Hey, are you okay over there?
Skylar looks at the homeless girl who hides behind the barrel. She jumps up in surprise, and looks up at him.
Alice: Y-yeah, t-thanks for asking…
Skylar: Heh, we Milit have to stand up for each other you know!
A weak smile is shown on her face.
Luke: Skylar! You okay!?
Footsteps are heard from behind, and both Skylar and Alice look in the direction of the sound.
It’s Luke. He walks towards them while carrying two bloody bodies. Behind him is Sarah, looking pale and scared.
Luke: So this is the lieutenant… looks much stronger than these wimps…
He put down the corpses next to the unconscious lieutenant. More whispering citizens are heard.
Skylar: Is that the sergeants?
Luke: Yeah, they attacked us, and destroyed a part of the hotel…
Both Skylar and Luke notice the girls glance at each other in awkwardness. Skylar manages to break the awkward silence.
Skylar: Hey, hotel lady, we can still sleep in our room tonight, right?
Sarah: Um, yeah, that should be okay I guess…
Skylar and Luke start walking towards the hotel in exhaustion while they wipe of blood and sweat.
Skylar: God, I’m exhausted… Let’s sleep…
Luke: I agree with you for ones…
Skylar notice Alice stays behind staring at the ground. She looks depressed, and doesn’t look like she knows what to do.
Skylar: Hey, we are going back to the hotel…
She looks up to him in surprise.
Skylar: ...want to join?
