gotta tell ya its annoying,especially since I dont always have a 15 character long thought !_!
Or when you respond to a simple question with a yes or no !_!

If you guys decided to actually follow the rules we wouldn't have done it. But, apparently, it is SO hard to read a simple thread.

Yeah, since people do tend to abuse everything that we leave a bit open we will try this to see if it will make the site a better place. There is only one way to know, and it's to test it out.

Also ask yourself when you make a thread, are you happy answers like "Yes.", "No.", "Agree." and similar one word replies? I don't think so, and if that's what you want... That's what we have polls for, you simply put the options: Yes, No and Maybe and so on as answers to your poll question. The posting in threads are for discussion, and yeah if people learn how to follow the rules and post things of value in the right place and to follow the guidelines we have, then we wouldn't need to add things like this.

It's a good thing in general, but for forum gamers it's a real drag xd For threads like Rate the username/signature/avatar above you it's really unnecessary.

To add to the above, it's also unecessary to have it in vm/pm because people want others to get to the point and you are usually able to get the msg across without 15 words.
You only get more spam from this because people will probably still write what they want and then add "....." to the rest because not everyone likes to write much.

It may be fine for posts in the actual forums, but sometimes I just want to VM someone and say hi, or thanks, or you're welcome. And now I have to add characters which end up just being "............".

Maybe restricting it to specific sections would work better.

Well, this really makes sense on the forum posts; as one word replies are already against the rules so writing 2-3 words won't be a biggie. But in visitor messages that's a different case. Profiles are for personal use and for most of us the only means to communicate one-to-one with friends, and you don't want to write: ....... in every VM just to make up the limit, it is like writing your actual message and spamming rest of the part. It will be very nice if we had it turned back to three characters for visitor messages, or make it at-least 8-9 characters, perfect to write "Thank you".
