The members should have a way to communitcate with the mods when they get banned

Sometimes, a mod will act and ban someone who broke a rule but either did it by mistake or because of unfair treatness.
The mod usually write to the person they´re banning and write a short sentence on why they´re banned which 9/10 is justified can be explained, in such cases, it´s too late and the member has already gotten banned and can do nothing but accept the punishment which could be for the wrong reason.
This is why i suggest that the banned member should be given the chance to communicate with the mods while their banned to sort things out and put things into perspective.
Sometimes, a member get banned for having done something by mistake and in that case having got banned when they would´ve learnt their lesson simply by having been given a warning with an infraction.
That would´ve made the forum more likable for the members and they would´ve respected their mods more.

This is simply an idea of something that could make the site better and here is an advice from a member to the mods: Don´t do something unless it is necessary and there is no other way.

I hope you atleast take things into consideration.

NarutoForums have, if I remember correctly, a section where they try different cases where people think the infractions were unreasonable.
Though I think that if we are to have something like that on NB, we must make difference between important and unimportant cases. While some are justified, there are others, which rikerslade mentioned, that are simply tragic.
Also, this will naturally increase the amount of work the mods will have to do, so I wonder.
Sure it doesn't address the problem for when you're already banned and can't communicate with the mods through your account, but it could help setting some of the mods straight when they're just being jerks.
I think most people just make alts, but since it's against the rules, I wonder if there really is another way when you're already banned..

It's happened to me that a former mod just harassed me because of how I was. The mod simply held, still holds, some sort of weird grudge towards me. I was banned for no reason other than that, but managed to get unbanned through an alt. account though, explaining my innocence.

It's basically like this:
You get infracted for doing something which is breaking the rules somehow, as judged by a mod or admin. If you get less than three infraction points in total, you're safe, get three or more and you're banned.
So the problem is the infraction which makes your count go up to three or more.
I think that what can be done is that the mods/admins check whomever they're going to infract, see how many infraction points they have, and if they are close to getting three, inform them beforehand about the coming ban.
Though this should probably only be done in cases where it is not that very clear as to WHY the members are getting banned. Other cases are just obvious.
Otherwise I suggest to the members whom don't understand why, that they check the rules and the post/action which got them banned, control them as well as the reason given in the infraction message, which should make it clear, I suppose.
It's a pretty difficult situation, since most cases with uncertainties are quite complex in nature.

It was because there was a whole thread based on posting pictures of the best ass(covered of course) and we thought it was ok cuz it wasn´t going too far but we were wrong and i guess everyone who posted on that thread got banned, i was banned without warning and i realized that it was because of the thread that we got banned, hours before i got banned i sent a message to hawker(the op of that thread) asking what happened to the thread cuz i couldn´t find it anywhere and he didn´t answer which i now assume it was cuz he got banned and so was i shortly after.

I don't think that is a strange reason for infracting someone, this is a family friendly forum after all.
But there are cases out there which are unjust.

I don't think that is a strange reason for infracting someone, this is a family friendly forum after all.
But there are cases out there which are unjust.

I posted 4 times on that thread and got infacted 4 times which lead to me getting banned and it all happened so fast i only saw it 3 days later(today) when i got back recently and found 4 notifications, as i said, it happened without warning.

I already posted 4 times long before the mod infracted me cuz of it, it was 4 posts breaking 1 rule and if i had been given 1 infraction with a warning, i would´ve gone back and deleted my posts and no one would have gotten banned if they did that to everyone on that thread hence my advice to the mods: Don´t do anything unless it is necessary and there is no other way.

@Tuskuyomi: I see.. Well, the rules do say such material is not to be posted, so anyone having read and remembered the rules probably wouldn't post something so questionable right?
You may just have forgotten the rules, but indeed, if they had warned you once you would have had time to delete your posts. It is all up to the mods how they judge and give infractions though.
This is why I think it's better for a mod or two to post their thoughts on your case.

They say it´s a family forum but what if a 12 year old kid follows his/her family to the beach, they would see the exact same thing some of us got banned for.

Soft porn- material that displays partial nudity or sexual content. Hard porn would be material that displays full nudity and very explicit sexual content.

Besides on beach they do not normally give provocative stances- and some posts did just that.

As for Caliburn- only he can tell what he was thinking. There is no age limit to register at NB as far as I remember. I have a 7 year old son and I would simply dump the site if I see this kind of threads being put up there.. even 3 year old nephew of mine can click mouse.

I like this site but do not wish to teach my son to look at women as mere objects.

That's Caliburn's thoughts on it, other mods will think otherwise.
I haven't seen the thread, thus can only guess, but I think the line probably got crossed as judged by other mods.
