^ because after using 7th gate gai is at his optimum am I right??
8th gate is obviously different since you push yourself to your utmost limit. 7th gate completely cuts your muscle fibers as seen when he couldn't break free from a water prison from a kisame who had all his chakra absorbed. He sure is.
He used it on Kisame without any immediate after effects. He only felt the exhaustion far later. Hell, he used Midnight Elephant twice this chapter, after outright stating he wasn't used to it yet. Afternoon Tiger won't be a problem.
The stronger Kisame's opponent is, the stronger he himself becomes. :|

why didn't he use it when he was in the water prison then XD8th gate sure is different. Gai's blood is literally leaving his body, and his vitality is being drained with each passing moment, yet he still was able to use it twice (and still standing). So, factually, it'd be an even worse scenario than 7th gate's toll.
