Origin of this thread. After the release, no after the news of a part III of the Naruto tale we were all wondering who the villain may be, and that question became even more important with the news that this part will be fairly short. Fans from all the edges of the world create theories on who they may be, and with the newest chapter we gained some more information regarding them as well as their motive. Before I start, for those of you who plan to state "wait until the next chapter comes out, geesh" I'd just like to tell you that a theory is for fun, and is suppose to be created prior to the release of the answer. The Masked Figure First of all I think its fairly important to note that the new main villain cannot be a completely new character to the series. The reason for this is simple, the series is too short for a overly complex plot which we saw in Part II of the series. Because of this, I am almost certain that we know who the "new" villain in and we've also seen them many times before. But I'd also like to point out that the main character of part III is Sarada Uchiha, the daughter of Sasuke and Sakura Uchiha. So let us talk alittle about Sarada Uchiha first. From the second chapter we know that there are no records of Sarada's birth at any hospital within Konoha. This probably means that Sarada was born outside the borders of Konoha, but we can be fairly certain that Sakura never left Konoha along with Sasuke, or alone for a long period of time. That raise the question if Sakura is the mother or not, but as Kishimoto (supposedly) said in an interview then Sakura is the mother. However, it was never stated if that was biological or not. To this, Sarada believes that her mother may be Karin Uzumaki rather than Sakura. So she sets out to find either Sasuke or Karin to gain the answers she is looking for. So how is this remotely important to anything? Well, the theory is based off this point. What if Sarada was to encounter both Sasuke and Karin at the same time. You've probably guessed what I am getting at here, but if you haven't then allow me to state it right out. What if Karin Uzumaki is the "new" villain clad in the cloaks of the "Akatsuki"? Before you got all crazy at me, allow me to explain how I came to this idea, okay? A villain requires motive, ability and reason to be a villain and when you think about, Karin has all of that. Allow me to explain something else first though. The full name of this spin-off is as follows; Naruto Gaiden: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring Month. The Uzumaki clan which includes Karin are famous for their trademark hair color which is, well a deep red color, to be more exact, Scarlet colored. This may also refer to the clouds of the Akatsuki, as Akatsuki is translated to Dawn or Daybreak which can be in a scarlet like color. So lets get them out of the way. The Akatsuki The reason it is not the return of the Akatsuki is simple. They were originally formed under Yahiko who died, then restarted by Nagato and Obito to gather all the Bijuu for Madara's plan. (This is common knowledge by now I assume.) Every single member of the Akatsuki is dead, however three branches of the Akatsuki are suppose to exist. The first being Kabuto, the second is Orochimaru and the third and final one is Taka. All these "branches" has been a part of the Akatsuki. Kabuto redeemed himself thanks to Itachi, Orochimaru is assumed dead and have no reason to attack Sasuke as he stated in the ending stages of the war, he wishes to observe Sasuke. That leaves Taka. We have no idea what became of Suigetsu, Juugo and Karin. (As far as I remember then we don't have any definitive proof that they are even alive.) Juugo would never attack or try to kill Sasuke where as Suigetsu doesn't have a death wish. (He is fully aware that Sasuke would kill him if they ever fought.) The only person who has been connected to both Sasuke and the Akatsuki that has any chance of being the villain remains to be Karin. So lets look at the motives she holds, right? The Masked Figure II Along with the name of the spin-off (Scarlet Spring) and the fact of how short it is, then I do believe the villain to be Karin Uzumaki. She gained the Akatsuki Cloak when Taka formed and joined the Akatsuki for a short time. She also had knowledge of Sasuke, Itachi and Orochimaru from their encounters. She never learned the truth of Itachi, but she knows that Sasuke fought a fight with Itachi and Itachi died. Now before I go ahead and continue with her, I need to get the other person out of the image here. Namely the infamous Onion Boy. Onion's with Sharingan!? If the hooded villain is Karin, then who is this? It was guessed by Kakashi to be another experiment by Orochimaru. (Who as far as I know is assumed dead.) I believe this to be somewhat true, Kishimoto has never really given straight answers such as this one. So that is why I believe it only to be some truth in that guess. If Sarada was originally a child created from Karin's experimentation in a try to win over Sasuke then the Onion Boy may be the complete opposite. An artificial child created to fight Sasuke. Now before you go starting with the question about why he cares so much about Itachi. A man with determination is far more dangerous than someone without it. (Naruto is proof.) Karin may have lied to her creation that he was one of the last Uchiha's in the world. She may also have placed Itachi in a position where he was something such as a protector for the Uchiha and making Sasuke out to be a cold-blooded killer who killed Itachi. Thus throwing the Onion Boy on a path of revenge against Sasuke. As to why I claim that both Sarada and Onion Boy are related is out of two reasons. It fits by theory, that is number one. The second reason is this scan;

Sarada and Onion Boy are showed right next to each other as parallels. Though he may be different in the terms of humanity as also shown by the same scan. He states in very simple terms that he wants to kill Sasuke. Probably showing that he lacks some intellect. (In other words, he may be a machine for killing, nothing else. With just enough humanity to make him dangerous.) The Masked Figure III This is where my theory will end it seems. If Sarada and Onion Boy are experiments of Karin or Orochimaru isn't really important. Regardless, Sarada believes Karin to be her mother. So unto her again. I said that Karin must have a motive is she were to be a villain, so what is it? She has shown that she is capable of forgiving Sasuke for almost anything, but she is also a very jealous person. (She is also, rather unstable.) Her motive is probably out of love and jealousy. Both Madara and Obito made their motives out of lost love and despair. So it is not far-fetched to assume that Karin would be made a villain out of the same reasons. Karin may have lost it completely once Sasuke leaves her for someone else, forever. Promoting her to either allow Orochimaru to further experiment on her or simply taking Orochimaru's notes and doing it herself. Thus creating Sarada from her and Sasuke's genes. Only to have that child being taken away by Sasuke on one of his missions to hunt down Orochimaru's experiments. (Never encountering Karin in the progress.) This would further anger Karin. The other possible reason is that Sakura and Sasuke just plain are Sarada's biological parents and that alone made Karin jealous and tried to create a child using her own and Sasuke's DNA. (The result being the Onion Kid.) The hooded figure is not very tall, but skinny. (The same build as Karin or Suigetsu was.) The hooded figure also talks to the Onion Boy as you would a minor, short and simple. The hooded figure also talks in a manner you would to a child that has done something good; "That's right... Sasuke..." That first part of that sentence is something you would state if you were talking to a child who did something good. (Further increasing the chance that Onion Boy lacks some intelligence.) She has the cloak to dress as a Akatsuki, but why would she? Well, if she really went insane then she may be living as if she is a part of Taka, the place where Sasuke "belongs". (As in, with her.) So that is her motive, she went completely insane for her love for Sasuke and hatred for Sakura. But what of her goal? Her goal is to get Sasuke to become part of her life, her twisted and insane existence. To make him come "home" to Taka and her again. To the place she means that he belongs. A simple goal, but then again this is a short story. Let's Recap! Karin is the hooded figure and the main villain of Naruto Gaiden. She went over the edge when Sasuke married Sakura and had a child, Sarada. Karin has the Akatsuki cloak from her days in Taka and she uses it for that reason. The Onion Boy is a experimental child created by Karin as her and Sasuke's "child". (A unfinished and primitive human.) The name of the spin-off, suggest that the color "Scarlet" is important. The same hair color as Karin has. (The final known Uzumaki with the said hair color.) Karin's goal is to gain Sasuke back, and make him fall in love with her. |
