The main trouble with Hiruzen..

The main trouble, I think, is that Kishi can't imagine Hiruzen power. Sure, in the beginning of the manga, he posted that Hiruzen is the 'God of Shinobi'

But as you can see, Kishi was a bit naive back then, now, when the giants have really showed up, Kishi is having troubles imagining moves which are original, because he is known as the professor

I mean, no offense to any fanboys, Minato basically just copied Tobirama and improved it

Hashirama is basically nothing but big trees and woods.

Tobirama is more on par with the 'Professor' title as he did invent some notable jutsu

Naruto is just Rasengan1, 2 and 3. Sasuke is Amaterasu, Chidori and Susanoo

Hiruzen has shown a variety of techniques, from fire to mud, bt thats just bout Kishi imagination can go to this poor guy..

It's not so much his relationship with the Sannins as much as it is knowing Enma, and being an Edo. He no longer has to worry about his chakra reserves like before, and with the recent revelation that Senjutsu is the only way to deal damage, plus him being off screen for so long it makes you wonder.

Well it's obvious kishi isn't going to let Edo Hiruzen Live up to his hype, Because Edo hiruzen is "old Hiruzen". It was During his prime he was deemed "God of shinobi" "strongest hokage".

It's not that kishi can't "imagine" Hiruzen's power, It's simpy that the state Hiruzen was revived in doesn't have that power to live up to his hype.

The only hype Old hiruzen has to live up to is "being the strongest of 5 Kage" Before he died, Meaning Kishi needs to make him stronger than

Onoki
3rd or 4th raikage (depending on timeline)
Mei
and Gaara's father.
