opinions on what is better "written"
which author has most creativity

- Both are actually quite similar if you think about it
although the times in which they were written were very different!

- personal op. TLOTR > TIC

Certainly LOTR is better..... its simple yet brilliantly woven.

The Inheritance cycle is good but with shit load of unnecessary verbal abuse... the kind of words that series has for the ancient or elven language are extremely crappy.

Lord of the rings definetly.
Better story and better writing by far.

You can tell chris paolini was influenced by tolkien
Tolkien created a whole language in lotr and chris (sorta) tried to do the same with the ancient language

I still like the jnheritance trilogy alot too
Nothing kinda beats riding a dragon

what is 'The Inheritance Cycle'? :|
Its a seriesnof books based on some dude(eragon) being one of the last good dragon riders born in the kingsoknruled by an evilndragon rider (galbatorix).

The series is just basically him finding out, training, and kicking some ass after that

Kingdom*

for all those that have not read the inheritance cycle and love TLOTR --- READ IT
its not on the same level - none of the books that come out these days are - but its a good read and has many similarities to TLOTR.

I might be heavily biased here since i went to the same school as tolkeins grandson.. so it kinda got drilled into me at a young age that the sagas of Ea were awesome xd (tolkien wrote over 15 books based on the world of lotr) to me, noone can ever come close to matching the depth and sheer originality to the some 40-50 thousand years of history tolkein made for his stories

Is it me or is the Inheritance Cycle so diluted that it becomes difficult to remember what is even going on by the time the new book comes out? I like it but the time gaps between the book releases really ruin it for me. I have to remember what happened using context clues as I'm reading. ~_~

I'll go with LOTR.

Inheirtance. Though the last book of Inheiritance was garbage.

I concure
I loved the Inheritance books except for the last one. The ending of it just was so despicable its not even funny. Paolini could have and should have done much better than that. And the fact that there arent going to be any prequel books to tell Brom and Morgans stories upset me.

Imo Roran and his wife and child should have become Riders, Roran weilding a Hammer instead of the customary sword. Murtaghs story ended horribly as well.

Sorry for mini rant. Must go LOTR

I agree..It looked like paolini didnt even make an effort to surprise us...arya becoming rider was so BS...and the vault of souls..another huge disapppointment...:|
