Please don't underestimate the Legendary Sannin. Between the three of them, they possess all skills and components of shinobi combat.
Sage Mode Jiraiya alone has a very large and complex arsenal. Then you add Tsunade's healing and physical strength, Orochimaru's intelligence and unique abilities.

They could beat everyone except sage kabuto , adult Sasuke and adult naruto . Sage mode genjutsu destroys SM hashirama . Edo madara is negged . They would mid difficulty lose against kabuto , negative difficulty lose against adult Sasuke and mid diff lose against Adult Naruto .

Lowkey , kusanagi slices through Shinsu Senju or slices apart the ground which will cause it fall . It was stated to be capable of cutting anything . Tsunade wrecked a Susanoo and survived one of the best fire styles of madara , she would wreck gai but not kakashi probably as she could react and attack faster than a lightened Ae at Susanoo . She was compared to speed to Ae so she must be close to his full speed , oro was compared and placed higher than minato , so he should be on par with him or close enough in reaction speed and footspeed and shunshin . Jiraiya's sound genjutsu could end of the fights bar sage kabuto who can counter it with a similar sound senjutsu empowered genjutsu so its debatable .

lol?? the sannin get destroyed here. I dont see them getting passed pain due to CT. only thing that might of saved them against kakashi and gai are the summons. the rest are stomp.

I believe jiraiya has a high level sealing jutsu considering he sealed something as complex as Amaterasu .

Jiraiya would comfortably solo Kakashi and Gai by himself. Can't really see the Sannin countering White Rage, but they can defiantly counter everything else Kabuto can throw, especially SM Jiraiya by himself. They get murdered by everybody else in the gauntlet.

Portrayal puts Jiraiya on another calibre than Kakashi and Gai. Kakashi, Tsunade and Fukasaku all acknowledged Jiraiya was the strongest Leaf Village Shinobi before Pain Arc, and Kakashi knows his power and Gai's yet admitted Jiraiya was far above him in power. So from the author's perspective, Jiraiya would beat Kakashi and Gai in a matchup solely based on how he portrayed him compared to Jonins.

Portrayal aside, feats put Jiraiya far above them. Kamui isn't a problem because Jiraiya is a sensor - he's a SM users and stated in the databook too. The moment he senses the pressure build up in Kakashi's eye, he'll simply evade out of Kamui's wrap or prepare defensive measures, like Shima could create a

to blind Kakashi's eyesight and etc. What can Hirudora do to threaten Jiraiya? That technique was tanked by Kisame, when it was supplemented by the air pressure of the ocean already enhancing its air pressure, and all it could was incapacitate Kisame for short time period. SM Jiraiya is more durable than Kisame, whom the latter was stabbed by a blade on his shoulder, whereas the former in Sage Mode could tank falling on piercing-shaped rocky structures without damage. Not to mention the 7 Gates isn't something Gai could maintain for long; he could probably maintain it for about 1 minute before going to exhaustion.

On the other hand, Kakashi nor Gai have what it takes to counter what Jiraiya could dish out at them. It's pretty obvious they don't stand a chance by portrayal or feats.

Pain admit he would lose but he clearly meant in the same circumstances. take away the convenient buildings they fought around, have all 6 in a open grassy knolls w/o any places to hide and flank then there is little room for the sannin to take advantage of plus the fact that despite how much people like to praise the sannin, the reality is their abilities do not combo well enough against Pain compared to the gokages, dare I say even edo Itachi's mix up game is better suited to counter.

We aren't in a disagreement there, an unrestricted 6POP would defeat SM Jiraiya in a neutral location. However, adding Orichmaru and Tsunade more than compensates for the advantages SM Jiraiya wouldn't have if the fight didn't take place under the same scenario as the manga. You're saying the Sannin don't combo well, neither does Deva along with the rest of the paths. Deva is somewhat handicapped until the rest are gone and/or he decides to deactivate them. They were all getting feinted by Naruto's smoke bombs and Bunshin antics, the Sannin together will have even less trouble taking them out one by one. And exploiting Deva's cool down is much easier with numbers, which literally a base Naruto did.

CST? Good luck when Katsuyu canonically withstood it, and the Sannin can swiftly retreat underground with Orochimaru's snake summons.
CT? Good luck when Preta Path is gone, and SM Jiraiya summons a swamp under Deva's feet. Nagato was canonically shown to have to deactivate everything while he used CT. So Pain can't use his ST while holding CT either.
